Weekly Workout/Training in Review 5/25-5/31

June 1, 2015

Hello June….hope you bring us kinder weather this month!  This morning I read May was the warmest May on record in Washington, DC…cray cray.  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update.

Monday 5/25– 2 mile walk

Tuesday 5/26 – 2 mile walk

Wednesday 5/27 – 2 mile walk

Thursday 5/28 – 2 mile walk

Friday 5/29 – 60 minutes yoga + 3 mile walk

Saturday 5/30– 1 mile walk

Sunday 5/31 – 1 mile walk

Total: 13 miles walking

This was my last week “off” before marathon training begins this week.  I planned on running a couple of times last week, but work got a tad busy and I missed those runs.  I finished the week with 13 miles walking…not to shabby.  Now I am ready to run again! As I promised you last week….food pictures are back! Cliff and I had a nice dinner at Ghibellina <–love this place! The peach sangria was SOOO GOOD.

We split a risotto cake appetizer (I highly recommend it) and a salsicce e cipolla (sausage and onion) pizza… we were stuffed.

On Friday night I went to CPY for a nice sweat session before dinner (Los Cuates….a bit of a hidden gem…their tres leches is amazinggggg).

Walking through Georgetown is always fun – I love looking at the beautiful homes.

The next day I met my mom for brunch and a mani/pedi at Varnish Lane (my Mother’s Day gift to her).  You may remember I went there three weeks ago with my friend Rachel.

This time I chose a peach polish (this week’s theme apparently).

Can I get one of these chairs for home, please?

Later that night, Cliff and I made Loco Moco, which is a popular Hawaiian dish of rice, beef, gravy, topped with an egg.  It was my first time eating it and to my surprise it was delicious.

Speaking of food……I was inspired by the Friday Five theme from a couple of weeks ago and organized my running fuel into baskets.  Yes… that is ALOT of Nuun!  I buy a couple tubes of Nuun, stow them somewhere, forget I about them, and buy some more (repeat).  Does that happen to anyone else…or only me?

How was your weekend?

What is your favorite type of pizza?

    1. I love veggie pizza. Lots of veggies, lots of sauce, a little cheese. That’s my favorite :).

It looks like you had a nice recovery week before you kick up your training! Hooray for the peach sangria and the peach nails. Looks like you and your mom had fun getting your nails done and just spending time together. I agree that Georgetown is beautiful and I’ve only been to DC a few times to know, but there are some gorgeous places up there and I’d never get bored walking around and exploring.

That veggie pizza sounds wonderful – a food item I would have if I was stuck on an island. Even though I’ve lived in my neighborhood for almost 5 years, I find new homes/things everything day. It must be the same when you are wandering around Charleston – a different light fixture, the windows, the colors.

    1. Hi there! I love this post. It’s so relaxing and delicious! Does that make sense? 🙂 You pics are so inviting I wanted to join you and your mom on your mani/pedi day and the food….well enough said…Muy delicioso!! Thanks for sharing and found you over at runningandreading.com

Thanks for stopping by Lowanda! Relaxing and delicious does make sense 🙂

    1. Ohhh I really like that peach nail polish. I’m still rocking the same pale pink polish I blogged about a couple of weeks ago. I go in phases where I’ll wear the same thing FOR WEEKS at a time and then switch to something else for weeks at a time. I think I’m going for that peach color next 🙂

I’m so excited that everyone is starting to ramp up for Chicago! My first official week of training won’t be until later this month. I should be solidly in my base building phase right now but this cold is killing me. I don’t understand how it’s 2015 and we don’t have an instant cure for coughing yet!

I am usually a pink gal for the spring/summer… so I decided to switch it up and I was pleasantly surprised. Take care, Kristina!

    1. Good luck as your kick off official marathon training this week. Mine starts next week. I love the peach nail color. I can’t remember the last time I had a manicure. Forever.

Thank you! Good luck to you as well. Perhaps a post marathon pedicure treat? 🙂

Haha I’ve been drinking Nuun all day since I stopped my morning coffee/tea purchases. I should do that with my diet soda drinking.

    1. Love your storage bins. I got organized this weekend too by taking everything out from under the bed, sorting it and organizing into boxes. I love the feeling of accomplishment of doing something like that. Good luck on your training. What does your training plan look like ?

I still need to tackle my clothing bin and closets – eeks! Glad you were able to accomplish some of your organizing. I have a 20 week training plan which will have me run 3-4x a week. The first 12 weeks I had to fit in my sprint tri training which will have swim and bike 2x a week.

    1. My best friends went to Georgetown and George Washington University and I agree, it’s gorgeous over there! I had no idea until I visited. I’m envious you get to run through there!

Pretty lucky to have so much diverse scenery/running/walking routes in the area. Living in Florida, do you get to run by the beach alot?

        1. YES! I do but as crazy as this will sound, sometimes it gets boring! I love going to the beach but running there everyday can just be repetitive. The awesome part though is running along the houses that back up to the beach – gorgeous mansions.

    1. Peach sangria sounds perfect on a warm night, and the pizza looks awesome. My favorite type of pizza is a bit odd, but I love broccoli and pineapple. I know, I know, it’s different. We have tubes of NUUN pop up everywhere at our house too!

    1. I love that nail color! I am always varying between a pink/red darker color and something more neutral. Also – 13 miles this week! Half a marathon!

      1. Run Jenny Run

Congrats on 13 miles this week! I am usually pinks for the spring/summer and wines for the fall/winter.. decided to change it up with the peach and loving it 🙂 Hope you have a good week ahead.

You should get one after Zengo! Call me if you ever want to get one, I want to have another taste (or two or three) and try to replicate it at home.

Thanks, Mindy! Haha I knew you would like the pizza pic 🙂 I like both pepperoni and mushroom, but never had it in combination.

Such a fun location for people watching (we were seated at the front window). Good luck with working on more walking miles into your routine.

Come on over to my hood for some sangria…I promise you do not have to park in the TJ lot 🙂

      1. Run Jenny Run

I hope you get to go soon. The other dinner options (meat dishes) are huge… you will def have leftovers.

    1. Oh, my gosh…you’d think I’d know by now not to read these posts while hungry – ha! 😉 It all looks delicious, Jenny; especially, the pizza!! I love your nail polish color, by the way; such a great spring/summer choice. I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds Nuun everywhere…it’s kind of embarrassing how many tubes we have – ha! Hey, we’ve got to stay hydrated, right?? Hope you’re having a great day, girl!

Haha… I had to make up for the lack of food last week Thanks for the compliment on the nail color, glad I tried it out! So glad I am stocked… that is how I ended up with watermelon for the year… found it hidden somewhere 🙂 Have a great week!

    1. Yum!! I adore tres leches cake and that peach sangria looks fabulous. A perfect welcome to summer drink!

My favorite pizza includes mixing pizza sauce and pesto and then topping with mozz, sausage and green olives!
