Weekly Workout/Training in Review 4/17-4/23

April 24, 2017

Happy Monday! First, congrats to my high school elementary school buddy Tricia on her BQ at the Coastal Delaware Marathon! Second, congrats to Jackie on her win at the GW Parkway Classic 5K.  They are both a great source of motivation.  Speaking of inspiring, did anyone watch the London Marathon this past weekend?

Monday 4/17 – Rest Day

Not running related, but have you guys ever used Amazon Locker? I have one close to work so I send packages here to avoid package theft #citylife. Thanks Maya for storing my packages!

Tuesday 4/18 – Rest Day

Wednesday 4/19 – Rest Day

Thursday 4/20 – Rest Day

My plan was to run 2 miles today, but I went to an impromptu happy hour instead (iced tea for me).  I figured I will be on social lockdown when marathon training ramps up, so I enjoyed a nice afternoon with my co-workers.

Friday 4/21 – Rest Day

Thought about going for a 2 miler, but it looked like it was going to pour outside. Of course it didn’t and I regretted my decision. Oh well.

Saturday 4/22 – 3 miles | 16:04 min/mile

I was SO looking forward to this run -I wanted to see how much I improved from the previous week.  I started out with tight calves/shins – nothing out of the ordinary, it was the body saying “uhhh warm up, Jennifer”.  That went away after a mile, but then I started feeling a little tingling sensation in my left ankle/top of my foot. It was an odd feeling, but I figured I could press on since it did not hurt. Then right around mile 2 my foot was numb.  It wasn’t the same type of numbness when you sit on your foot, it was less prickly. I tried running it off, but decided to stop once I couldn’t feel my footing,. I didn’t want to sprain or twist it.  The numbness lasted the entire last mile. Weird, huh? Thanks for all your tips/suggestions on my IG post.  Hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

After my run, I met my friend Jenny for a nice brunch at Pearl Dive, we had some Mopey bread.  It was soft and had a hint of orange flavoring.  Sooo good!

Sunday 4/23  – Rest Day

I decided to make Sunday a rest day because of my foot. Plus I was traveling for most of the day. Can you guess where?

I am linking up with Courtney for the Weekly Training Recap and Holly and Tricia for the Weekly Wrap.

How was your week?

Has your foot ever gone numb while running?

    1. I hope your foot recovers soon. I’ve never seen those amazon lockers but I think that’s a great idea for people who live in cities or in apartment complexes where someone could steal a package. Even in the suburbs, it can happen here.

Thanks Amy! My foot felt better for yesterdays short run, but still a little stiff. That is right, Amazon Locker would be useful in the suburbs as well. I know some of the area neighborhoods get hit with package theft during the holidays.

Yes! I think there is one Amazon Locker location in DC, but I forgot where (I guess “far” enough for me to choose Old Town).

Thanks, Kristina! My foot felt fine during/after yesterdays run (yay), but a little stiff. I’ll take today off 🙂

    1. I’ve been to Pearl Dive for happy hour a few times but didn’t know they had brunch (but I should have – is there anywhere in DC that doesn’t serve brunch?!). I’ve had weird feet numbness before for no apparent reason…it’s so weird when that happens. Hopefully it doesn’t happen to you again. Enjoy your trip – jealous!

Haha, right? If you ever go there for dinner, you can make Chef Table reservation and sit in the kitchen (no extra charge) – it is a fun experience. Luckily my foot did not go numb yesterday, just a little stiff today. Thanks!

    1. Never heard of Amazon Locker, but it’s a great idea! I have definitely worried about theft, but usually my neighbors watch out for each other and will hold packages for me. THAT BREAD! I can taste it from the pic…MMMM. And Aloha to you! Enjoy!!!

Thanks, Jennifer! That is nice your neighbors will watch out for you. Our mailman is good about hiding packages, but when its FEDEX or other carriers, they leave it in plain sight.

    1. I’ve never heard of Amazon locker either. Do you just rent it when you are expecting a package?
That picture of the tree lines street is absolutely gorgeous. I wish my running route looked like that.
I hope you are enjoying your trip and that your foot isn’t bothering you.

When you choose your delivery address, you can select an Amazon Locker location (for free, no rental). When it is delivered, the carrier puts the package in a locker and then a code is emailed to you (you can type or scan it). The one I used is located in a 7-11 haha 🙂 Thanks!

I know, it was all very strange! Luckily it did not bother me yesterday, just a little stiff today. Thank you, Sharon!

    1. I hope your feet is better today? I’m guessing that Mopey bread made it feel better temporarily, it looks delish!

    1. How weird about the foot numbness. I hope it’s better now! I’ve been loving the instagram photos of Hawaii 🙂 We’re planning on a trip to Maui in November and I am so excited.

Thanks! Luckily it wasn’t too bad when I ran on Monday. How fun, Hawaii in November should be nice 🙂

    1. Did your foot feel bruised afterwards too? My feet will tingle and go numb often. It’s usually a sign I need to loosen my laces. I’ve been using Lock Laces for a while. They don’t seem to put as much pressure on the top of my foot as traditional laces. Enjoy your time in Hawaii! Thanks for linking, Jennifer.

Not bruised, but will try rotating in my shoes with the lock laces. Thanks, Holly!
