Weekly Workout/Training in Review 4/27-5/3

This past week I battled a cold.  After a lovely Saturday, I woke up the next morning with a sore throat and congestion.  I had a nice brunch with my college roommate and a chance to catch up with one of my good friends from business school – by the end of the day I was exhausted and achy.  Although I had planned to increase my mileage this week, I knew it was better to rest (a few project deadlines prevented me from taking a sick day).

Sunday 4/27 – Rest day / Tulips!

Monday 4/28 – Rest day

Tuesday 4/29 – 1 mile elliptical + 60 minutes personal training (easy)

Wednesday 4/30 – Rest day

Thursday 5/1 – Rest day

Friday 5/2 – Rest day / Dinner w/ colleagues

Saturday 5/3 – 4 mile run + 2 mile walk + 60 minutes personal training

Total: 7 miles

By Thursday I was about 99% recovered.  The highlight of the week was my 4 mile run on Saturday.  It was a gorgeous weekend in DC and I ran straight down 14th street and around the tidal basin.  It was my first run in two weeks – I look forward to increasing my mileage this week.

Tulips at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park by Adams Morgan – I had no idea they had such beautiful flowers! Beautiful!

I will definitely be visiting this garden every year.

On Friday my friends and I went to Taverna Cretekou in Old Town Alexandria – we had a delicious dinner!

Only a couple weeks and the tidal basin is now lined with green trees!

After my run I had my cool down by the Tulip Library or Floral Library right outside the basin.

Some of the tulips were nearing the end of their life, but there were still some pretty ones.

Bella!
