German Vacation Recap – Dachau and Munich – Part 4

Missed Part 1? Part 2? Part3?  The last leg of our German road trip took us from Fussen to Munich.  We woke up Wednesday morning, packed, checked out of the hotel, and stopped by the bäckerei (bakery) for some breakfast goodies <-ALL the breads.  I wish there were more bakeries at home, I guess Panera or Au Bon Pain would be comparable, but they are not the same....I can't pinpoint it, perhaps the charm factor? Anyways, croissants and danishes in hand we…

German Vacation Recap – Berlin – Part 1

Cliff and I spent nine fun days exploring Germany despite my little fall.  I posted a recap of the 2016 Berlin Marathon + Spectating last month, but in order to share ALL the details and pictures (this post is picture heavy) I wanted to document the trip in a four part series (by city). I know several of my running buddies and readers are planning trips for next year's marathon, so I wanted to start off with our trip city itinerary:  September 22-26: Berlin  September 26-27: Rothenburg ob…

Auf Wiedersehen Deutschland – Goodbye Germany

Auf Wiedersehen Deutschland - Goodbye Germany! Whenever I say goodbye in German I automatically think of Heidi Klum at the end of a Project Runway episode.  Anyways... I'm back home (we actually returned home Friday evening).  Overall it was a fun trip despite the bum foot. Toeing the Berlin Marathon blue line.    Next week I'll share my marathon planning post and my travel recaps (including all things Berlin Marathon and some exciting news I learned while I was there).  My foot…

Tasty Thursday – Austin Eats

One of my favorite aspects of traveling is exploring the local food scene.  Today I wanted to share some of my Austin Eats from this past weekend. On Friday we arrived shortly before noon with no plans for the day.  After some quick research we saw there was a restaurant close by called Moonshine Grill Patio and Bar.  Very cute, right? We were seated and given popcorn and cornbread as appetizers!  I know so many restaurants use mason jars as…

Tasty Thursday – Charleston Eats

Tasty Thursday is back! Over the next couple of weeks I will resume my recipe posts, but today I wanted to share some of my Charleston Eats from this past weekend.  Charleston has over 200 restaurants! How were we going to choose? Luckily a few of my friends had recommendations and we used their list as a starting point.  Here are a few of my foodie highlights: Post race brunch at Rutledge Cab Co. This was not located in historic…

Visiting Charleston – Around Town

Part 1: 2015 Charleston Half Marathon Race Recap The best perk of a Saturday morning half is having the remainder of the weekend free of pre-race rituals.  Following the race, we had a 1.5 days to explore/tour Charleston.  Here is a snippet of our adventures.  Visiting the Charleston City Market, sometimes referred to as the Strawmarket. If you are from the DC area - the concept is similar to Eastern Market in Capitol Hill, except the vendors were inside.  Beautiful…

Friday Five – Favorite Travel Photos of 2014

This time last year I shared my Five Favorite Travel Photos of 2013 for my first Friday Five post.  Today I am linking up with Mar, Courtney, and Cynthia, and going to share my Five Favorite Travel Photos of 2014. 1. Jardin Botanique, Montréal, Ontario (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) In August I visited Montréal and Québec City with my mom.  I saw these incredible blue flowers at the Montréal Botanical Gardens.   2. Tbilisi to Kazbegi, Republic of…

Montréal/Québec City Vacation Part 3

October 16, 2014 Missed Part 1 or Part 2? After 3 days in Montréal my mom and I headed to our final destination, Québec City.   The city is also known as Ville de Québec to differentiate itself from the province and sits northeast of Montreal.  We took VIA Rail Canada - it was both scenic and quick (the train ride was approximately 3 hours and there was free wifi).  We arrived at the Gare de train Québec (train station) and…

Turkish/Georgian Vacation Recap – Part 3

Missed Part 1, and Part 2? Days 2 and 3 were spent touring Istanbul.  After a yummy breakfast (more food pics from my trip here) Ali and I headed to the Galata Tower where there were magnificent views of the city. Afterwards we hopped onto a tram towards  Old City and visited the Basilica Cistern - so stunning. This was built in the 5th century during the Byzantine Empire. We rented walking audio guides - well worth the $5. Next was…
