Year Ahead – 2016 Goals

Better late than never, I wanted to share my 2016 goals.  If you have been following my blog for the past couple of years (2014, 2015), I always had a long list of goals.  I realized some of the goals were more "bucket list" or "to do list" items, such as learning to knit and calligraphy...hmmm maybe another post. This year I wanted to take a more simplified approach to goal setting and narrowed it down to three categories: running, nutrition…

2015 Quantico Sprint Triathlon Recap

Yay....the 2015 Quantico Sprint Triathlon Recap is up! One of my goals this year was to complete my third sprint triathlon.  The last time I participated in a triathlon was in 2011 (DC Tri - which no longer exists and the Dog Days of Summer Tri).  In February I signed up for the Quantico Triathlon - I was super excited! Chicago Marathon Training Week 11 – 8/10-8/16

Vacation has been great! My mom is a planner extraordinaire so our days have been filled with fishing, hiking, walking, and exploring the different ports.  I wish I paid attention to her itinerary in advance, because I could have scheduled in some early morning runs while I was in Ketchikan and Juneau (here is a great post by Pam of We Run Disney on "How to get it done: training while on vacation").    Monday 8/10– Fishing Tuesday 8/11 – Walking…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 7 – 7/13-7/19

Well last week was a bit of a bust.  It started off with two good (tough) strength training sessions (Tuesday = arms and Wednesday = legs).  I've had back to back sessions before, but never have I ever been that sore to miss my runs through the weekend (usually my strength days are Tuesday/Thursday and I am recovered by Saturday/Sunday for my long runs).  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update. Monday 7/13–…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 6 – 7/6-7/12

About a week and a half ago Kristina kindly reminded me that Chicago was 100 days away!  Now we are down to the 90 day mark - crazy!  My training plan is ~18 weeks long - so I am about 1/3 done with training.  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update. Monday 7/6– 2 mile walk + 30 minutes cycling Tuesday 7/7 – 2 mile walk + 60 minutes personal training + 1 mile elliptical  Wednesday…
