Miami Half Marathon Race Recap – Part 1

February 4, 2014 Cute beach pic from my friend Emily!  When my friend Em asked if I would join her for the Lifetime Miami Half Marathon (formerly the ING Miami Half Marathon and Marathon), I thought Florida in January? Yes please! Okay, I wish I made decisions that quickly…it went more like the below: I already ran hobbled the 2012 Miami Half (I experienced horrible blisters early on in the race) Although Florida is not too far away, I was not…

New Years Day 5K Recap

January 2, 2014 I hope everyone had a nice New Years! A snippet from yesterday…my friend Debbie decorated her wine glasses with wine glass markers-they wash off too!  Isn’t that a cute idea? So I’ve been itching to run a 5K since I ran the SOME Trot for Hunger 5K in November. Knowing there would be races on New Year’s Day, I used Run Washington’s website to search for a 5K.  Having run Potomac River Running’s Perfect 10K (or 10…

New Lists, New Goals, New Year-2014

December 31, 2013  Happy New Years Eve! I will be spending the evening with friends in Arlington, Virginia (dinner and back to an apartment to ring in 2014). I love making lists and setting goals! Because I was a good b-school student, I tried to make my 2014 goals S.M.A.R.T (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely).  Here they are: Running  Track my weekly mileage Follow a training plan (include speedwork, intervals, hills) Capture/record race splits Create “A”, “B”, and “C”…

2013 SOME Trot for Hunger 5K Race Recap

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and stayed warm! I had a great time celebrating with my family in Maryland. Logo: SOME This year I decided to try the So Others May Eat (SOME) Trot for Hunger 5K in Washington, D.C.  As the name suggests, the 5K benefits DC’s homeless by providing them with food, clothing, and healthcare every Thanksgiving.  I signed up for this 5K last year, but I overslept and missed the start……(yes those are ominous dot…

2013 TSC Annapolis Half Marathon Race Recap

This past Saturday I ran the half marathon of the 3rd Annual Annapolis Running Classic (they also had a 10K distance).  As the name suggests, the Annapolis Running Classic is held in Annapolis, Maryland.  Annapolis is the Maryland state capital and approximately 30 miles east of Washington, DC.  It is home to the United States Naval Academy, a historic downtown filled with cute stores and restaurants, and sits on the Chesapeake Bay. I could not recall why I signed up…

Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half Marathon Recap

The 4th annual Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half Marathon was originally scheduled for October 6, 2013 (the same weekend I ran the Crawlin’ Crab Half Marathon).  Due to the government shutdown (a majority of the course is on National Park property) the race was rescheduled for November 10, 2013.  Race directors gave runners an option to run the race on November 10th, or defer their entry for up to two years.   Logo: Wilson Bridge Half Marathon When I heard race…

ShopRite Baltimore 5K Race Recap

A little behind in the blogging world….after 3 years of running the Baltimore Half Marathon + a 2 year hiatus, I ran the ShopRite 5K last month on October 12, 2013. Logo: Baltimore Running Festival The Baltimore Running Festival (BRF) is located in downtown Baltimore, about an hour away from Washington, D.C.  The festival begins/ends by Ravens Stadium/Camden Yards and the Saturday event draws thousands of runners to the marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, and 5K distances.  This will be the…
