2015 Philadelphia Love Run Half Marathon Recap

Last year I ran the Inaugural Philadelphia Love Run Half Marathon. Image: Philadelphia Love Run Half Marathon Despite the torrential downpour, I had a strong race and PR'd by 2 minutes (probably fueled by coldness...I am not going to lie..there were tears of "why am I running in the rain/cold").  On August 22nd CGI Racing (the lovely team behind The Love Run) opened registration with a discounted price.  If you signed up that day you were entered to win a…

2015 Shamrock Half Marathon Race Recap Part 2

Missed Part 1? 2015 Shamrock 8K Race Recap.  It has been fun reading everyone's recap/account of the weekend through the linkup. The 8K was held on the most beautiful Saturday.  The post race festival/tent was on the beach and temperatures were in the 60s by the afternoon.  Below is the King Neptune statue basking in the sun (random....I always think of King Triton from the Little Mermaid whenever I passed the statue). Following the race I headed back to the…

2015 Rock ‘n’ Roll DC 5K Race Recap

When I first shared my 2015 race schedule in January, I was only planning on running the St. Pat's 5K and 10K (Double), Shamrock 8K and Half (Dolphin Challenge), and the Philadelphia LOVE Run Half Marathon.  I know...I know.... "only"...you can roll your eyes :)  After some catch up time on the Rock 'n' Roll DC Facebook page... I saw this:Image: Rock 'n' Roll DC Facebook Adorable...right!? I really dug this year's 5K medal and timing-wise it was early enough…

Running and Racing Potpourri III

It’s Thursday (my Friday for the week yay).  This work week has been busier than expected (coming home exhausted) - looking forward to my weekend in Austin, seeing my friends, and catching up on some comments/posts :)  Trip to Austin? Is Jennifer running this weekend? How was this missed? It happens to be Austin Marathon/Half Marathon weekend, while I considered running it, there will be no racing involved :) Four of my friends and I are meeting in the Lone…

Running and Racing Potpourri II

January 15, 2015 In October I wrote a Running and Racing Potpourri post.  As the name suggests, it was a hodge podge of running news and questions.  I thought it was fun to share some new articles/posts I’ve read the past couple of weeks: 1. The Mile High Run Club…..the Treadmill Class In November, the Huffington Post wrote an article, “6 Fitness Trends for 2015 that Have Experts Buzzing."  In it they referenced The Mile High Club - which is…

Year in Review – 2014 Running by the Numbers

Two weeks until NYE! Last week I shared a Year in Review – 2014 Goals.  It has been fun reading other retrospectives, 2015 race schedules, and goals for the New Year. Today I am going to share my Year in Review - 2014 Running by the Numbers (here is my 2013 version). I’ve been looking forward to this post for the past couple of weeks, it is no surprise that I like numbers, looking at trends/patterns, and analyzing this information. …

Running and Racing Potpourri

October 21, 2014 A little over two months until 2015 - woah! Thanks to everyone who suggested Maryland, DC, and Virginia races - your comments were very useful!  Naturally I am planning my race schedule for next year (you can preview a little bit of it here, but I will have a writeup in December once I finalize it a bit). This is a potpourri post - a blend of news and questions. 1. Nike Half Marathon Headed to NYC?…

2014 LOVE Run Philadelphia Half Marathon Recap

This past weekend was the inaugural LOVE Run Philadelphia Half Marathon, and also my 13th half (a rainy one too boot)! Packet Pickup/Expo Packet pickup was held at the Philadelphia Convention Center on Friday and Saturday.  I arrived Saturday morning and headed to the expo before checking into the hotel. It was on the smallish side (maybe the size of Cherry Blossom?), but it had the usual vendors and I was able to purchase a bib belt (I lost mine……

Virginia is for Lovers 14K Race Recap

February 17, 2014 Happy Monday and President’s Day! This past weekend my old friends Em, Tasha and I headed to Virginia Beach, VA for the Virginia is for Lovers 14K.  We grew up in the same neighborhood and were on swim team together (Go Marlins)! I do not recall why exactly we chose this race (we decided sometime last fall), but it was a good excuse for a girls getaway. The race was suppose to fall on Saturday February 15th,…
