2015 Chicago Marathon Race Recap Part 1

I cannot believe Chicago was almost 4 weeks ago – it feels much longer than that.  This recap will be one of my lengthier ones and will be broken up into two parts (I know my 2014 NYC Marathon recap was longggg with three posts hehe).  Again, thank you all for all your support the past 5-6 months! Okay...onto the recap! WARNING: PICTURE HEAVY.  Image: Chicago Marathon Speaking of NYC, let’s rewind a little bit.  Prior to the 2014 NYC…

Friday Five – Reasons to Run the Annapolis Running Classic

Happy Friday!! Who is ready for a long weekend?  Today I am back with a Friday Five post and linking up with Mar, Courtney, and Cynthia.  This week’s theme is Fall Races, so as an  Annapolis Running Classic Ambassador I thought it would be the perfect time to share Five Reasons to Run the Annapolis Running Classic.  1. Beautiful State Capitol Course I ran the 2013 Annapolis Running Classic Half Marathon (recap here).  The course starts at the Navy Marine Corp Memorial Stadium and takes you through historic/downtown…

2015 Georgetown 5K Race Recap

Told you I had another recap! The Georgetown 5K was a late addition to my race schedule. Brittney at Corral B (she is a Chicago based blogger) spent the summer in Washington, DC for an internship.  We both run about the same pace, so a run together was a must! Unfortunately work got a little hectic so I had to cancel our first planned run. While trying to reschedule, Brittney mentioned she was going to run the Georgetown 5K.  Image: Bishop's Events  Of course it…

2015 St. Michaels Half Marathon Race Recap

The recap is here!! About 3 weeks ago I ran my 22nd half marathon at the St. Michaels Running Festival.  I actually signed up for this race in 2013, but forgot it was the same weekend as my sister's college graduation (I went to the graduation of course and DNS the race).   Image: St. Michaels Running Festival I was excited to have this half on my schedule because my friend Emily said this was a flat, fast course (it holds her current…

2015 PRR Mother’s Day 4 Miler Race Recap

This past winter I purchased a race pass from Potomac River Running (4 races for $110 or $27/race).  I was looking at the PRR events page and saw they had a Mother's Day 4 Miler on the calendar - perfect! I asked my mom if she would like to participate on Mother's Day morning and she said, "yes".   Image: Potomac River Running I signed us both up (PRR issues you a race pass code upon registration and the same code…

2015 RES1CUE Run 8K Race Recap

One week ago (and some) the 2nd Annual RES1CUE Run 8K was held in Bethesda, Maryland.  This 8K supports the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad - they provide emergency medical, fire, and rescue services in Bethesda, Chevy-Chase and surrounding neighborhoods (even Northwest, DC). Image: Courtesy of the Bethesda Res1cue 8K A little over a month ago my cousin Steph sent an email about the race - I never heard of it! After checking my calendar (she really had to pull my…

Friday Five – Ways to Share the Running Love

Hello Friday!! I am looking forward to another weekend of beautiful weather.  On Sunday, my mom and I will be participating in Potomac River Running's Mothers's Day 4 Miler - will I see you there? Today I am linking up with Mar, Courtney, and Cynthia and the theme is Five Ways to Share the Running Love.  1. Volunteer or Coach Races are always in need of volunteers (especially for the non-glamorous pre-race set up or post-race break-down).  There are also organizations like Girls on…

2015 Manassas Runway 5K Race Recap

This past Sunday BRATS hosted the Manassas Runway 10K/5K at Manassas Regional Airport.  I first learned about this race from John at Run.Geek.Run(Disney).  A race on a flat runway...sign me up please! Image: Manassas Runway 10K/5K I remember John described their events as "great value for the money" - he was not kidding!  The 5K was $20 for early registration (10K was $35) and it came with a shirt and a medal.  Flat course + medal... I thought this would be a great option…

I am definitely singing "Monday Monday" of Mamas and Papas fame.... hopefully it will not be a "Manic Monday" a la Bangles today.  And I can't believe it is almost May! 2015 Cherry Blossom 10 Miler Race Recap

This past weekend was the 43rd annual running of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and my fourth time participating in the race (here is my race recap from last year).  Did you know you could look up your past performances on their results page?  I like that I've improved with age :)  I entered the lottery and received the below email in December.  I've entered the lottery 4 times (2010, 2011, 2014, and 2015) and accepted 3 times or…
