GW Parkway Classic 10 Miler Race Recap

April 15, 2014 Image: Pacers This past weekend was the 30th Annual George Washington Parkway 10 Miler.  It is smaller than the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler (approximately 5K), and often overshadowed by the former.  After running the Wilson Half in November (it shares a similar course for the first 9 miles) and having never run this traditional “DC” race , I knew I wanted to tack on this 10 miler to my spring schedule.  Packet Pickup / Expo Like other…

2014 Cherry Blossom 10 Miler Race Recap

This past weekend I ran my 3rd Cherry Blossom 10 Miler (as did several of my friends) in Washington, DC. Logo: Credit Union Cherry Blossom My first time running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler was in 2007.  Back then there was no lottery (my friend Jenn B. and I signed up on a whim ) and the course started/finished at West Potomac Park (majority through Rock Creek Park and no Hains Point). They also gave out (free) key chains to…

2014 LOVE Run Philadelphia Half Marathon Recap

This past weekend was the inaugural LOVE Run Philadelphia Half Marathon, and also my 13th half (a rainy one too boot)! Packet Pickup/Expo Packet pickup was held at the Philadelphia Convention Center on Friday and Saturday.  I arrived Saturday morning and headed to the expo before checking into the hotel. It was on the smallish side (maybe the size of Cherry Blossom?), but it had the usual vendors and I was able to purchase a bib belt (I lost mine……

Miami Half Marathon Race Recap -Part 2

February 4, 2014 Another half complete! Missed Part 1? Race Goals (“A” least probable and “C” most probable) Version 1 - two weeks prior to the half  I’ve had pretty good training runs as of late - easy 11-11.5 minute miles, which is how I came to my “A” goal (assuming ideal weather conditions). I arrived at my “B” goal by factoring in the heat, adding a minute to each mile.  A - PR by 10 minutes  B - PR…

Miami Half Marathon Race Recap – Part 1

February 4, 2014 Cute beach pic from my friend Emily!  When my friend Em asked if I would join her for the Lifetime Miami Half Marathon (formerly the ING Miami Half Marathon and Marathon), I thought Florida in January? Yes please! Okay, I wish I made decisions that quickly…it went more like the below: I already ran hobbled the 2012 Miami Half (I experienced horrible blisters early on in the race) Although Florida is not too far away, I was not…

Year in Review – 2013 Running by the Numbers

Merry Christmas Eve and Happy Holidays! 2013 has been a pretty good year - both professionally and personally. Because of work I was able to travel (and run) A TON and visit several friends along the way.  I am very happy with how my running and fitness level has progressed since the beginning of the year.  Now for the fun part, my 2013 Year in Running Review: Running by the Numbers Having worked in the finance industry and gone to…

2013 SOME Trot for Hunger 5K Race Recap

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and stayed warm! I had a great time celebrating with my family in Maryland. Logo: SOME This year I decided to try the So Others May Eat (SOME) Trot for Hunger 5K in Washington, D.C.  As the name suggests, the 5K benefits DC’s homeless by providing them with food, clothing, and healthcare every Thanksgiving.  I signed up for this 5K last year, but I overslept and missed the start……(yes those are ominous dot…

2013 TSC Annapolis Half Marathon Race Recap

This past Saturday I ran the half marathon of the 3rd Annual Annapolis Running Classic (they also had a 10K distance).  As the name suggests, the Annapolis Running Classic is held in Annapolis, Maryland.  Annapolis is the Maryland state capital and approximately 30 miles east of Washington, DC.  It is home to the United States Naval Academy, a historic downtown filled with cute stores and restaurants, and sits on the Chesapeake Bay. I could not recall why I signed up…
