Surprised by my blog title?!  Image: Marine Marathon  Remember back in March I received a “second chance registration” email from MCM and and proceeded to sign up for the 40th Marine Corps Marathon?  I decided Chicago would be my “A” race and MCM would be for “fun”….oooh I definitely questioned my decision making/sanity while running Chicago last week: 11:26AM: Only halfway through and my quad is pinching, how will I run another marathon in 2 weeks?! 1:36PM: My quad is hurting and its so hot....I'll…

Chicago Marathon Countdown – Race Day Outfit

Woah Nelly....4 more days until Chicago! Speaking of Nelly...Chicago will be "Hot in Herre". So if you are 7-14 days out from your marathon and the weather is A,B,C...it can very well change to X,Y,Z (for the good or the bad depending on your outlook). …

Chicago Marathon Countdown – Packing List

Wednesdays are pretty nice - they signal the middle of the work week and it is a relatively calmer day for me (knock on wood).  Wednesday also means another Chicago Marathon Countdown post! Today I am sharing my marathon packing list: If there is anything missing from my list feel free to comment or leave your link below.  My packing list has been updated since last year. You may notice I have poncho, zip lock bags, and Aquaphor on my…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 17 – 9/21-9/27

Hello Monday! As most of you are aware, DC welcomed Pope Francis last week.  It was so funny to see downtown DC so empty and quiet.  Because I live close to work, I still went into the office Tuesday-Thursday (most people were able to telework).  I heard sirens throughout the day (which is not an unusual occurrence with the White House close by) and saw excited parade goers walking towards the mall.  Vendors were even selling pope stuffed dolls...not sure…

Chicago Marathon Countdown – Logistics

Ummm...we are under the 20 day mark people....only 17 days until October 11th.  Thanks for all your words of encouragement last week!  Today I will be sharing some of the logistics that are finalized for marathon weekend.  Unlike the New York City Marathon, I did not have to worry about baggage or ferry options for Chicago.  The Hotel Confession: I booked my hotel before the lottery results!   I wanted to secure a room as soon as possible and the hotel…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 16 – 9/14-9/20

Another week in the books! Chicago Marathon Countdown – Motivation

T-minus 4 weeks and some until the 2015 Chicago Marathon!  Last year I wrote a NYC Marathon Countdown (Motivation, Logistics,  Packing, Fueling, Race Day Outfit) series each Wednesday prior to the marathon.  I thought it would be fun to do the same for Chicago now that it is a month away.  Today's topic: motivation! Compared to last year, I think my motivation is a little better (I just need more hours in the day).  Of course I still have those…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 15 – 9/7-9/13

Hello Hello! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram (need to add the feed to my website - I use to have one on my Tumblr) you all know I was in Bird-in Hand, PA for the half marathon this past Saturday (recap coming next week).  Here is one of my favorite shots from the weekend: Run/workout wise....the same ole story. Thank goodness I walk to/from work everyday; while it may not be running I am glad for the…
