St. Michael’s Half Training 4/27-5/3 – Week 6

May 4, 2015

What a weekend! It was SOO beautiful out – I hope you were able to enjoy the sunshine as well.  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update.

Monday 4/27 – 3.5 miles  (hills)

Tuesday 4/28 – 60 minutes personal training + 3.1 miles (strength exercises)

Wednesday 4/29 – Rest day

Thursday 4/30 – 2 miles walking

Friday 5/1 – 2 miles walking

Saturday 5/2 – 5 miles + 3.1 miles (hills and intervals)

Sunday 5/3 – Bethesda Chevy Chase Res1cue Run 8K + .03 miles

Total: 23.7 miles

This was a much better week workout/running wise!  The fitness highlights of the week occurred over the weekend.  On Saturday I ran 5 miles with my friend Rachel followed by 3.1 miles of running/hill work/intervals.  Georgetown was much greener and warmer compared to our last outing there in March.

That afternoon I enjoyed this spectacular view from my friend’s apartment roofdeck.

The second fitness highlight of the week occurred on Sunday.  I participated in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Res1cue 8K Run (recap coming this week) with my cousins – I always enjoy spending time with them!

That evening my mom came to DC for dinner and a concert.  We went to Pearl Dive Oyster Palace and had reservations at the Chef’s Table.  If you get a chance to dine there – try requesting the Chef’s Table, it is a fun experience.  There are typically two seatings/night and there is no extra charge to sit there.

Ice tea is always fun in a carafe!

The Amish fried chicken was delicious, followed by a Strawberry “cheesecake” (the cake part was more sponge like)… soo good!

After dinner we attended the Nashville concert at DAR Constitution Hall.  Scarlett, Deacon, Will, Maddie, Daphne and Layla (the show names) all performed and they were all really good live.

Did you enjoy the warm weather this weekend?

Are you a Nashville (city or show) fan?

Haha, I am the same way! So glad the weather is cooperating, but I have a feeling it will be real humid soon!

Happy Monday to you as well! Haha… so true… you are right everything is more fun in a carafe 🙂

I agree – it did get a bit hot for my liking during the race…but it made for nice walking weather 🙂

It was a beautiful view – one of the highest points in DC. Always fun seeing my cousins and her kiddos (3 and 1 respectively).

Thanks Chaitali! It was a fun weekend and it did not feel over-scheduled. The view was impressive – it was my first time there. You could even seen the National Cathedral to the right.

Thanks Mindy! They were really good live – it was better than expected! I just caught up with the season, wonder what will happen next!

Completely agree! I wish Spring would stay a little bit longer…and by Spring I mean the 50-60F weather with no rain 🙂

Thanks! So glad you had another run Pittsburgh Running weekend! Great (first) recap.

Thank you, Lacey! Ahh too bad you are working that evening. I think they tour maybe at least once/year? I remember my mom looked it up last year and it was sold out in DC. Such a good cast.

Thank you Mary Beth! What I liked about this particular restaurant is that there was no extra surcharge for the Chef’s Table – makes it more accessible for people.

Was sooo good, ended up doggy bagging half of it. I haven’t tried BlackJack yet… the pizza/burgers they were cooking in the kitchen looked just as delicious.

    1. I loved the weather this weekend, Jenny; it was great! Can’t we just have this ALL the time?!? You had a GREAT training week; way to go, girl! What a fun restaurant experience and that food looks ahhhhmazing. Thanks so much for linking up with the blog and I hope you have a great Monday!

Thank you, Tara! It was pretty spectacular. Now I have to remember to put on sunscreen (I know… I should be putting it on during winter runs as well). Hope you have a great week!

    1. We had a stormy yet rather warm weekend; no complaints here! Your dining experience sounds like a fun time. Maybe I’ll check it out whenever I get around to visiting DC again. I LOVE Nashville (
the show and the city). I would love to see the cast perform live. Hope you have a great week!

Oh boy! You got the last of the April showers? If you get to DC again I definitely recommend any restaurant owned by this particular restaurant group (they have some more places in MD). Hopefully you’ll get to see the cast perform live one day.

    1. Great training week and I’m kinda jealous of your chef’s table experience! That’s really neat to see everything up close in the restaurant like that and glad you got to spend time with your cousins at the race and your mom at the concert. It’s definitely warm here, bordering on hot (87 yesterday).

Thanks Amy! If you are in DC will have to take you there. What I love about this particular Chef’s Table is the no extra cost – makes it more accessible. As you are aware, Chef’s Tables can be pricey!

Thanks Lauren! Hope your sister had a fun time in Georgetown. Good luck to you as well!

I know… I could go for some more 🙂 Luckily the fried chicken places are not too close to my apartment – may have to make a “healthy baked version”.

Thanks, Tamieka! Hope you get a chance to run in DC this spring/summer. The Capital Crescent Trail is nice b/c it is shaded.

    1. The weather was/is incredible! It finally feels like summer! Glad you had a nice weekend. It’s always so lovely to get together with family.

Did you find Baltimore to be less crowded? Or people starting to come out and enjoy the city? Love seeing my cousins and their two sons – always fun to catch up with them.

    1. I agree, it was a beautiful weekend! Hopefully we get to enjoy this weather before the high heat and humidity come. I have not been to Nashville nor seen the show, but I do hope to change this before the end of the year. Hope you’re having a great Monday!

I know, right! It was even a little humid on Sunday and during the week as well. Almost forget what it feels like each year. Hope you have a wonderful week.

    1. We had beautiful weather this weekend too. In fact, it is supposed to be gorgeous all week. I am so happy that spring is finally here. Great job on your workouts this week. The dinner out with your mom looked really yummy. I love fried chicken and the dessert…..swooning!

Thanks Kelli! The 5Ks are good b/c I get to work on a speed a little – which I dislike, but know I need to improve. The 8K was fun and a good race for me to work on my half pacing. Hope you have a great week as well.

Thanks, Lisa! I am also loving the longer days.

Wow 100 degrees! Ok I won’t complain when it hits the 80s/90s 🙂 The view was pretty spectacular, a panoramic view of DC.

    1. Sounds like a great week of training! I’m looking forward to reading your race recap 🙂

I didn’t realize Nashville has its own concert. Interesting! I’ve never seen the show but often see promos on ABC Maybe once Revenge ends I’ll get into it!

Thanks Sun! I started watching it last year (and caught up) – luckily there are not too many seasons (yet). I’m a little sad with Revenge ending – I hope what the now Series Finale won’t leave us hanging!

I think he had the loudest applause when he came on stage! What a cliffhanger last week.. I want to know what happens to Teddy!

    1. Aw, I’m glad you got to spend time with your mom! I want Nashville to come on Netflix! I have been wanting to watch it, but this old lady can’t stay up late enough (plus, I’m so far behind that it wouldn’t make sense to start now!)

Thanks Jenn! Tough, but will help out in the long run.
