St. Michael’s Half Training 4/13-4/19 – Week 4

April 20, 2015

Happy Marathon Monday! I’ve been enjoying all the Boston Marathon related articles, posts and pictures from this weekend and looking forward to more today.  Now I’m super excited for marathon training to begin (Jennifer remember to look back at this post when I start complaining about how tired I am come September).  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for her Weekend Update.

Monday 4/13 – Rest day

Tuesday 4/14 – Rest day

Wednesday 4/15 – Rest day

Thursday 4/16 – 2 miles + 60 minutes personal training

Friday 4/17 – 2 miles

Saturday 4/18 – 4 miles

Sunday 4/19 – 2 miles

Total: 10 miles

Last week was one of those weeks in which everything was scheduled (workouts, social, work…a bit overscheduled), but nothing went as scheduled.  I had to cancel running plans with Rachel (twice) and one training session with Jess. I squeezed in some workouts where I could and was happy with the 10 miles (better than none).  This week should be a better week in terms of running, cross training, yoga and catching up on blog comments.

On Wednesday evening I drove to historic Ellicott City where I met two of my colleagues (and former project managers) for dinner. We ate at a restaurant called Portallis and everything was amazing (I had the salmon with asparagus).

The following night I caught up with two of my classmates from b-school.  We went to Agora in Dupont Circle where we shared meze (small plates).  Below is a picture of dessert…I love baklava!

This past weekend Cliff and I headed to Richmond for a wedding.  After some research we went to Perly’s Restaurant and Delicatessen for breakfast and it did not disappoint.

Corned beef hash with eggs.

Bagel sammy for me! The seven grain bagel was good.

The wedding was held at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens – it was a beautiful day to celebrate the bride and groom.

The tulips and daffodils were in bloom.

They were the perfect backdrop for the ceremony.

Lovely centerpieces!

It was nice to spend the evening outdoors.  I love that the days are getting longer.

Random, but not so random… I just purchased a Fitbit Flex (thanks to my REI dividend) and received it on Friday.  I ordered the Fitbit in black, but also ordered a cover from Amazon in case I needed something dressier (the Tory Burch Fitbit line is beautiful, but I did not want to spend that much on it). I think it turned out nicely and wore it to the wedding.

How was your weekend?

Eat anything delicious?

They have loads of options (even on Etsy too). Have a good week!

    1. Looks like a great weekend and I love that dress! (And nice to finally see Cliff on the blog, hehe.) Was your Fitbit Flex cover expensive?

Some weeks it’s a miracle to get any exercise squeezed in at all. Hope things calm down for you soon, but props for getting mileage in despite schedule mishaps!

Thanks Jess! The cover was $40 (haha basically offset my REI dividend). I’ll email you a link of which one I got. There are also ones on Etsy/Amazon I considered (ones similar to a necklace holder).

    1. I loved seeing your pics over the weekend from the wedding; such a beautiful venue and YOU looked amazing! Love that dress, Jenny! I love your comment about reminding yourself that you are excited about marathon training; it’s definitely work, but I know you’re going to do great! Hope you’re having a great Monday, Jenny, and thanks so much for linking up with the blog!

Thanks Tara, you are so nice! I’m looking forward to creating a plan, attempting to stick to that plan, and enjoying the process.

There are so many options out there (between Amazon and Etsy). Magic of the internet.

    1. Beautiful blooms at the garden for the wedding! Also, very cool cover for the fitbit flex. I didn’t realize they made those, but of course it makes sense. Have a great week and hopefully you’re less overscheduled 🙂

Thanks Kelli, me too. There are so many options on Amazon and Etsy – I was surprised.

    1. The fitbit cover looks awesome! I’ve been on a bit of a baking kick the past couple weeks, so we’ve been eating lots of sweets :/ I made a triple citrus cake on Friday! Yum!

Triple citrus cake sounds wonderful! I’ve been craving pineapple as of late, so that was the first purchase I made when I returned home.

Thanks Molly! It was such a fun color. I choose the Fitbit Flex b/c there were more cover options. Even though it does not have the numeric display, I always have my phone with me so the data syncs via bluetooth and I am perfectly fine with that.

It was a fun, relaxing weekend. Always goes by quickly. Thanks Sharon! Hope you have a great week recovering from Asbury.

Thanks Lindsey! Hope you enjoyed the amazing weather this past weekend.

    1. Ohhh I had no idea that there were covers for the Fitbit. That gold one looks like it blends in perfectly with your other accessories.

I love the color of the dress you wore to the wedding – gorgeous color!

And that wasn’t even all of it! Haha yess I sooo got the cover 😀

    1. Sounds like a delicious week! I love researching places to eat before traveling – the food is usually one of the best parts of any trip.

Last week, the most delicious thing I ate was a giant slice of chocolate pistachio pie. It was the best lunch I’ve had in awhile 😉

Me too! Fun to crowdsource as well. Chocolate pistachio pie sounds amazing – I’ve never had that combination.

Thanks! I think I’m becoming addicted to the Fitbit… haha… a good thing perhaps.

The one I have I think is another vendor, but so much cute stuff out on Etsy and Amazon.

Hahah me too! It was beautiful We were able to walk around some of the grounds before the wedding, but so much more to explore. Would definitely like to go back.

    1. How awesome is that fitbit cover. I just decided to get one, and now I’m even more excited that I can switch out the covers. Love your pictures
