Shamrock Half Training 3/16-3/22 – Week 9

March 23, 2015

And just like that Shamrock Weekend is over.  It was a fun weekend of running and I look forward to sharing my recaps over the next couple of days (yay recaps)!   Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for her Weekend Update.

Here is how my training went:

Monday 3/16 – 3 miles + 60 minutes personal training

Tuesday 3/17 – 3 miles + 60 minutes personal training

Wednesday 3/18 – Rest day

Thursday 3/19 – Rest day

Friday 3/20 – Rest day

Saturday 3/21 – Shamrock 8K  + 1.5 mile walk

Sunday 3/22 – Shamrock Half Marathon +1.75 mile walk

Total: 27.32 miles

It was a pretty solid week, with a total of 27.32 miles (a majority of the mileage coming from the Shamrock 8K and Shamrock Half Marathon).  Of course the fitness highlight was participating in the Dolphin Challenge – I’ll give you a sneak peak in this post today πŸ™‚

Rewinding a bit, last Sunday I had a nice birthday celebration with my family (picture from last week).

On my actual birthday I celebrated year 32 with Cliff. We went to Restaurant Nora which happens to be America’s first certified organic restaurant.

It was yummy (we opted out of the tasting menu, but opted for some wine).  Random, but they served us  triple filtered tap water and it was really good.

On Friday I took a half day from work and headed to the Shamrock Expo (after a 5.5 hour drive ugh).  After picking up my bibs, I volunteered at the J&A booth.

The next morning I ran the Shamrock 8K with a PR on my mind.  No spoiler alerts here, but if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you may know how the race ended.

It was also fun seeing/catching up with Julie, Kathryn, Mar, Kathleen, Lindsey, Sarah, and my fellow J&A Ambassadors

And I got to take home some hardware as well… Bling #1 from the Shamrock 8K.

Bling #2 from the Shamrock Half Marathon.

And Bling #3 from the Dolphin Challenge.

Congrats to everyone who partipcated this weekend. Tomorrow my fellow J&A Ambassadors, NanSarah and Lindsey and I will open a Shamrock Weekend Linkup.  You can share your Shamrock Marathon, Half Marathon, 8K and/or Volunteer Recaps.  As you know… I LOVE writing/reading all the recaps.

How was your weekend?

Did you participate in any races?

    1. Congratulations on the 8K and half marathon! Those races have some awesome bling and it sounds like you got some good workouts in early in the week before them as well. Good job to walk afterwards to stretch out as well, that definitely helps me. I can’t wait to read about the full races.

Sorry I haven’t been responding- I saw you on link love today. For some reason your blog has stopped appearing in my reader. Craziness!

Aww thanks Amy! No worries – do you think the blog stopped appearing with my URL change? It was a fun week and I am glad I took some time to walk afterwards. Nice to get the blood moving in the legs.

Thank you Jenn! I am fond of the dolphin medal myself. I do like the glitter on the Shamrock medals.
