Tasty Thursday – Charleston Eats

Tasty Thursday is back! Over the next couple of weeks I will resume my recipe posts, but today I wanted to share some of my Charleston Eats from this past weekend.  Charleston has over 200 restaurants! How were we going to choose? Luckily a few of my friends had recommendations and we used their list as a starting point.  Here are a few of my foodie highlights: Post race brunch at Rutledge Cab Co. This was not located in historic…

Visiting Charleston – Around Town

Part 1: 2015 Charleston Half Marathon Race Recap The best perk of a Saturday morning half is having the remainder of the weekend free of pre-race rituals.  Following the race, we had a 1.5 days to explore/tour Charleston.  Here is a snippet of our adventures.  Visiting the Charleston City Market, sometimes referred to as the Strawmarket. If you are from the DC area - the concept is similar to Eastern Market in Capitol Hill, except the vendors were inside.  Beautiful…

2015 Charleston Half Marathon Race Recap

This past Saturday I ran my 19th half marathon in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina with my friends Emily, Gerri and Nathasha (here is her recap).  Image: Charleston Marathon This half has been on a bucket list ever since I read Nevie’s recap from last year’s half.  When I was drafting my race schedule for this year the Charleston Half Marathon was an easy choice - charming city, historical sites, amazing food, and “warmer” weather.  Traveling After work on Friday, we…

Charleston Half Training – 1/12-1/18 – Week 11

Less than 18 hours ago I was sitting outside in a rocking chair enjoying this view and the sunshine (63°F).  This morning I will be flying from CHS -> DCA and heading straight to the office (no MLK holiday for this girl).  The weekend was short, but fun filled.  I look forward to sharing my adventures with you over the next couple of days.  Monday 1/12 - 7 minutes stairclimber + 60 minutes personal training  Tuesday 1/13 - Rest day Wednesday…

Friday Five – Favorite New Zealand Memories

Happy Friday! This afternoon I will be heading to South Carolina for the Charleston Half Marathon.  I am excited my friends Gerri and Emily will also be running (waves to Amy and Abby as well).  When I was sick last week I missed a couple of days of writing and didn’t get a chance to finish my Friday Five post….a little bummed…then I realized…I could share it this week (hence last week’s theme) when linking up with Mar, Courtney, and…

Running and Racing Potpourri II

January 15, 2015 In October I wrote a Running and Racing Potpourri post.  As the name suggests, it was a hodge podge of running news and questions.  I thought it was fun to share some new articles/posts I’ve read the past couple of weeks: 1. The Mile High Run Club…..the Treadmill Class In November, the Huffington Post wrote an article, “6 Fitness Trends for 2015 that Have Experts Buzzing."  In it they referenced The Mile High Club - which is…

Charleston Half Training – 1/5-1/11 – Week 10

Good morning! I wish my mini absence from writing, reading and social media last week was due to my blog redesign, but unfortunately I was bedridden with the flu last week (started feeling better Thursday/Friday).  Thanks for all the recommendations/comments from my 2015 Race Schedule post - look forward to reading them all (Mallory - have your WVA reccos noted). Monday 1/5 - Rest day (sick) Tuesday 1/6 - Rest day (sick) Wednesday 1/7 - Rest day (sick) Thursday 1/8 - Rest…

2015 Race Schedule

Now that it is 2015 I thought I would share my 2015 Race Schedule (housed and updated in the Upcoming Races tab).  The list is not final and will be updated throughout the year. Here are some noteworthy items: Will sign up for my first trail run, will pick one of the races from the EX2 Blue Crab Bolt Trail Running Series. Hoping to sign up for the Quantico Tri (same organizers as the Marine Corps Marathon). Speaking of MCM…..will…

2015 Predictions & Resolutions 5K Race Recap

This year I kicked off 2015 by running the Predictions & Resolutions 5K in Arlington, Virginia.  This low-key, no frills race is hosted by DC Road Runners and is the same 5K that Courtney and Mar participated in last year.   Image: DC Road Runners I thought I would be participating in Potomac River Running New Year’s Day 5K (like I did last year), but after a few quick tweets and little convincing I was signed up for this 5K.  A…

Kushyfoot Product Review

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Lipton Publicity if I was interested in reviewing a few products from Kushyfoot’s Fall Winter 2014-2015 line. According to their website, Kushyfoot “is the first brand in women’s legwear to incorporate the ancient healing art of Reflexology….By creating socks, hose and sandals that integrate a massaging cushion designed by Reflexology experts, Kushyfoot helps relieve tension and discomfort in achy feet—and stress and fatigue throughout the entire body.” Image: Kushyfoot I practically live…
