After a few amazing trips, I am excited to be in DC for the next few weekends in a row. My next mini-trip or racecation will take me to Corning, NY for the Wineglass Half Marathon. Mileage-wise I am getting back on track and I think next week I will be back to my “normal” schedule.
Monday 9/1 – Rest day + Travel back from NY
Tuesday 9/2 – 1/2 mile sprint + 60 minutes personal training
Wednesday 9/3 – Rest day
Thursday 9/4 – Rest day
Friday 9/5 – Rest day
Saturday 9/6– 14 miles
Sunday 9/7 – Damascus Freedom 5K (recap tomorrow) + .4 miles
Total: 18 miles
This week the NYCM training schedule called for a 14 mile long run. The run was def a combination of highs and lows! I left my apartment at 6:40am (yes a weird time – but that is when sunrise is) and it was already 80 degrees + with 80% humidity – gross! I ran 3.8 miles to my old roommate’s apartment, ran 8 miles with my old roommate Rachel, and 2.2 miles home. The course was a little hilly (had to walk or run/walk the hills towards the middle/end parts). Thank goodness for the best running partner!
During the run I made a few waterstops to refill my handheld. One gas station attendant even gave us free bottled water. After the run I went to get a blueberry – almond milk – protein smoothie.
I met one of my good friends from business school for brunch at B.Too. It was nice catching up since we hadn’t seen each other since my birthday. I ordered the Croque Monsieur – it was SOOO good (plus the yummy tomato salad).
My friend said, Jen do you want to order a side like bacon or fries? Me: umm can we order both?!
And we did. I was a bit rungry!
It was a beautiful Sunday morning for the Damascus Freedom 5K – perfect for an easy 3+ miles. Afterwards I made stops in Rockville and Bethesda to visit my cousins.
