NYC Marathon Training 8/4-8/17 – Weeks 8 & 9

August 18, 2014

August 18, 2014

The summer is quickly passing by.  Sunrise is a few minutes later and sunset is a few minutes earlier each day.  I am enjoying these cooler DC temps as of late, and looking forward to fall.  After coming back from vacation, I feel like I am getting back on schedule – training wise. Here are my training logs for the past two weeks since I missed Week 7:

Week 7

Monday 8/4 – Hiked up Montreal’s Mont Royal (pictured above)

Thursday 8/7 – 3 miles

Total: 3 miles and a lot of change walking around Montreal/Quebec

While Canada was definitely a highlight of Week 7, I also had a chance to go to the Redskins vs. Patriots Pre-Season game at Fedex Field.  Washington won and it was a fun time.

I also headed to Dewey Beach, Delaware to celebrate my friend’s bachelorette – a weekend with great food, people and beach time!

While it was a great week, I was beginning to worry about my mileage! Enter Week 8!

Week 8

Monday 8/11 – Rest day

Tuesday 8/12 – 2.5 miles + 60 minutes personal training

Wednesday 8/13 – Rest day

Thursday 8/14 – Rest day

Friday 8/15 – Rest day (stomach issues)

Saturday 8/16 – 4 miles on the CC trail

Sunday 8/17 – Leesburg 20K

Total: 18.9 miles

My diet and workout schedule almost back to normal with 18.9 miles for the week!! I ran the Leesburg 20K on Sunday as part of my 12 mile long run (recap tomorrow).  While it was not the easiest of runs, I am glad I finished.  I also had a chance to catch up with Kathryn and Courtney, and met Julie and Deb (Deb’s recap is up too) for the first time.

After the race I headed back to DC where I spent a nice, cozy afternoon eating lunch and watching the Hobbit.

How was your weekend?

Have you had gaps in your training schedule?
