A little over 2 months before NYC – yikes!! Speaking of NYC, I received an email about their new marathon merchandise, what do you think? I am a bit indifferent at the moment, I do not think I will pre-order anything and will wait for the expo (more options + a little superstitious).
Monday 8/18 – Stretching + Rest Day
Tuesday 8/19 – Stretching + Rest Day
Wednesday 8/20 – Stretching + Rest Day
Thursday 8/21 – Stretching + Rest Day
Friday 8/22 – 2 miles
Saturday 8/23 – 16 miles + light arm weights
Sunday 8/24 – 1 mile
Total: 19 miles
While my total mileage for this week was a fraction higher than Week 8, my 16 mile long run felt much better than my Leesburg 20K, funny right? I did have several rest days, and probably should have spaced out my runs during the week.
So of course the fitness highlight of the week was my long run. This was the first time I’ve run 16 miles since the 2007 Marine Corp Marathon – it was both a great physical and mental challenge.
After my run I headed to my neighborhood coffee/bakery shop for a breakfast sandwich and a treat for later – I chose the blackberry lemon early grey cake.
I took a nap and went to a housewarming in Catonsville, Maryland – it was nice to catch up with Erin and my cousin Steph. Afterwards, went to Le Chat Noir for dinner – lovely evening, great company, and yummy food!
