Hello, I am back in DC! I arrived stateside late Sunday afternoon and spent yesterday catching up on work and life stuff so I did not get a chance to post my training recap. As some of you know, I was on vacation in Turkey and the Republic of Georgia.
Monday 7/21 – Walking/touring Istanbul
Tuesday 7/22– Walking/touring Istanbul
Wednesday 7/23 – Walking/touring Istanbul / Flight to Tbilisi
Thursday 7/24 -Walking/touring Tbilisi
Friday 7/25 – Hiking Turtle Lake in Tbilisi / Drive to Stepantsminda
Saturday 7/26 – Hiking to Gergeti Trinity Church
Sunday 7/27 – Flight back to the US
Total: 0 but lots and lots of walking and hiking
As you can see I did not get any running in. This was my first vacation without any races in a long time! My friend Ali and I had planned to run in Tbilisi, but it was too hot (although less humid, the sun was very strong). Although I did not get a lot of running in, my legs stayed busy walking and hiking (usually 3-5 hours a day).
Here are a few hiking/fitness highlights from last week (they double as social highlights since I was visiting my friends Ali and Stephen):
View of Tbilisi, Georgia above Turtle Lake (1.5 hours RT)
Gergeti Trinity Church next to Mount Kazbegi (3-4 hours RT)
View from the top!
Mountain selfies, of course.
One of the many wildflowers on the way up.
I will share my vacation next week! So much to catch up on (errands, reading etc)
How do you incorporate fitness while on vacation?
Do you have any favorite hiking spots?
