Monthly Goals – July 2015

July 1, 2015

Wowsa! Can’t believe the year is halfway over.  There are several 2015 goals I still hope to accomplish (mid-year review coming soon as well).  Today I am going to recap my June goals and share my July goals.

1. Run/Walk/Elliptical 90 miles

I squeaked it in and ran/walked 90.6 miles.  Note: Not all my Fitbit steps count towards my mileage goal.

2. Hit 10,000 steps/day

I ended the month with 433,312 steps (about 7,000 more than May) and hit 10,000 steps/day for 28 out of 30 days (the two missed days – reunion weekend).  My high for the month was 25,673 steps on 6/19 and the low was 7,433 on 6/7 (day after the reunion).  The Fitbit challenges I participated in definitely motivated me to walk those extra steps this past month.

3. Swim 2x/week

I was off to a great start the first half the month and it tapered off towards the end.  I swam a total of 3 times – which was much better than my zeros the past couple of months, but no where close to 8 times.

4. Cycle 2x/week

While I cycled more than I swam, I know I did not get on the bike 2x/week for the entire month.  Some of those workouts for pretty short.

5. Log Food Everyday

I was consistently logging my food M-F, but as soon as the weekend hit I would forget or “forget” to enter what I ate into my Fitbit app.  The result: no lbs loss but no lbs gained.

1. Run/Walk/Elliptical 100 miles

Long run mileage will be getting higher, so I think 100 miles is attainable if I get all my workouts in (plus I will be increasing my shorter runs by a mile or two).

2. Hit 10,000 steps/day

I would like a 100% this month!  Surpassing 433,312 steps would also be nice.

3. Swim 2x/week

I can do it, I can do it! I need to do it, I need to do it! The Quantico Tri is in 52 days.

4. Cycle 2x/week

There are a couple of cycling classes I’ve put down on my calendar and I will be taking my bike into the shop for a tune up.

5. Log Food Everyday

Especially the weekend eats! I would like to lose 2-4 lbs this month since my net was 0 last month.

I slacked on the yoga last month with all the other cross training activities, so hopefully I’ll fit in at least a class/week.  I am also linking up my goals with Tracy and Alyssa for Training for Tuesday (oops missed by a day).

How did you do this month?

Do you have any new goals for July?

    1. I love that you break your goals down monthly. I should start doing that. Short terms goals will keep me on track better. I can’t believe the year is half over either! It seems to be absolutely flying by! 🙂

Thanks! I started monthly goals this year after seeing a few other bloggers with them. It has been good to break down my yearly goals. 2015 is certainly flying!

    1. Great job with those goals! I’m the same way with tracking food… I start out really well during the week but then forget on the weekends. It’s also hard because the weekends are when I eat out more so if the restaurant doesn’t have nutritional information, I mostly just end up guesting. Good luck with the July goals!

Exactly! I find it difficult when I cook and not follow a recipe to guesstimate the calories. I suppose I am underestimating b/c I have dropped the lbs! Thanks and good luck with July/tracking as well 🙂

    1. Great job with your goals! I got a FitBit this month and agree that it helps you get in those steps. I got invited to a few challenges and now I take a longer walk with my dog in the morning and night to get those extra steps to try to win 🙂 I just sent you an invite to be friends on fitbit!

Thanks Amy 🙂 Hope you are having a good month so far.

    1. I’m looking forward to more Fitbit challenges with you! But, it’ll be tough because we are both training for Chicago. I like how you break down your goals into smaller monthly chunks. I should probably start that.

Agreed, it is tough since we’ll get a chunk of our steps in during the weekends (if that is when you do the long run). Thanks for inviting me again this week 🙂 Also, they posted the preliminary corrals on the Chicago website!

Thanks, Pam! Your swimming posts are very motivating 🙂 While I love the cooler weather, I wish the rain would subside.

So tough to see it fluctuate in one week. Going to try no pizza for a month and limit the breads. So far it has been good.. while I haven’t lost weight it hasn’t fluctuated up.

Thanks Kathryn! It will be a tough one, but will see how it goes 🙂

Very true! Now if this rain can go away in the afternoon. I want to go to Hains Point to swim haha.

Thanks, Sharon! Fun to see if people are morning, afternoon or evening runners with the Fitbit. Their steps shoot up after their workouts. Good job!

Thanks, Lara! I know it went by so quickly. The fall will be here before we know it.

    1. Great job on your goals! (Love how you have monthly goals.) You are so good with the cross-training activities. That’s something I need to work on. Maybe I’ll make that my July goal. 🙂 I can’t believe we’re halfway through the year, too! Hope you had a great holiday wkd!

Thanks, Nathasha. Can’t believe October will be here in less than 100 days (MCM in 108 days as of today).
