September 26, 2014
Happy Friday! Today I am linking up with Mar, Courtney, and Cynthia. This is part three of my DMV (District | Maryland | Virginia) race bucket list posts. I started these lists as part of my 2015 race planning process. These are races that I have never participated in (and in no particular order):
1. Shamrock Half Marathon

I’ve heard so many great things about Shamrock weekend – and I am so excited to participate as part of the J&A Ambassador Team. I will run the Dolphin Challenge – which includes the half marathon and the 8K.
2. Richmond Half

“America’s Friendliest Marathon”… with a slogan like that…But seriously I’ve heard only great reviews about this race. In addition to the marathon and half marathon distances, Richmond race weekend also has an 8K distance. This is a likely “yes” for 2015.
3. A Charlottesville Half

Bad to the Bone Endurance Sports manages both the Charlottesville Fall Classic (usually mid October and includes the half and 10K) and the Charlottesville Maryland (usually early April and includes the marathon, half, relay, and 8K). Does anyone have a recommendation? Either way it is a nice excuse to visit this cute town.
4. Clarendon Day 10K/5K Double
Another Pacer’s managed event. For those unfamiliar with the area, Clarendon is located in Arlington, VA – literally across from DC (across the river). I would love to run the double. I couldn’t squeeze it in this year, good luck to everyone running it this weekend!
5. Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon

While not initially on my list, it climbed its way to the Top 5 after reading several 2014 race recaps. Heat is always a consideration when I pick races, but this seems like an overall fun race.
Have you run any of these races?
Do you recommend any other races in VA?
