Friday Five – Things I Love About J&A Races

Happy Friday! Today I am linking up with MarCourtney, and Cynthia and the theme is “Five Things I Love (or Like) About______.”  I thought about this statement for a couple of days….. for some reason I had major writer’s block.  Then it hit me, I could share Five Things I Love About J&A Races.  My J&A Ambassador announcement was a bit brief and did not go into much detail about the organization and my role (note – this is not a sponsored post).

For those who are not familiar with J&A they are a race management company based in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  They manage events such as the Shamrock Marathon Weekend, Crawlin’ Crab Half Marathon and 5K, and much more!  My role as a J&A Ambassador is to promote the J&A races and brand (social media, expos, etc etc), run in their races, and share my experiences with you (which I do anyways hehe). Based on my experience running the Crawlin’ Crab Half Marathon and Virginia is for Lovers 14K, here are my five:

1. The Race Organization

Well managed and organized – from top to bottom.  This includes pre-race communications, the expo, race logistics, and post race activities.

2. The Swag

Some of the best swag I’ve seen.  Below is from the 2013 Crawlin’ Crab Half Marathon.  We also received a finishers hat and medal! Also, runners were handed cold towels at the finish line – a nice touch for a hot day!

3. The Wit

Funny signs, jokes and puns along the course and at the expo.

4. The Details

This was the entrance way to the expo – how cute!

5. The Distances

Their races vary in distances – 1 mile, 5K, half marathon, marathons! Some events offer multiple races during the same weekend – which is great for those who have family or friends training for different distances.

Do you have a favorite race?

What type of swag do you like?
