Friday Five – Keyword Searches to Run Jenny Run

April 3, 2015

Happy Friday! After back to back weekends in Virginia Beach (Shamrock) and Philadelphia (Love Run) I look forward to a DC weekend! Today I am linking up with Mar, Courtney, and Cynthia and I thought it would be fun to share Five Keyword Searches that have led readers to Run Jenny Run (PS – on a funny note, Mar wrote a great Stat What?! 2.0 post yesterday…great minds).

1. Run Jenny Run

This is one of the top keyword searches (makes sense) that have led readers to my blog.  Variations include: Run Jenny Run DC, Run Jenny Run Blog.

2. Josh Duggar

Remember that one time I ran the PRR Firecracker 5K with Josh Duggar? Okay technically I did not run with him, but he was there with his family and the “19 Kids and Counting” film crew.  After the episode aired on TLC (and Deb spotted me on camera) there were quite a few searches for Josh Duggar 5K or Josh Duggar Reston to my Firecracker recap.

3. Race Recaps

You know I love writing them! A majority of readers have come to Run Jenny Run by searching for a particular race, example “GW Ten Miler Recap” “Philadelphia Love Run Recap”

4. ClassPass

This past October I was able to attend the ClassPassDC Launch and have written a few posts that referenced them.  There have been a number of searches for  “ClassPass Business Model.”

5. “Buying Race Bibs NYC Marathon”

This one popped out…sorry NYC Marathon bibs are not for sale (you can try the lottery, charity, or time qualifier options).

If you blog are there any funny or interesting searches that have led to your site?

How do you follow other blogs? (ex. Bloglovin, Social Media, Google Search)

    1. That last one is really funny. Since I am not the brains behind our blog, I have no idea how we get our traffic through searches/what searches. I used blog lovin’, but have a list in my Erin Condren planner of the blogs I love too!

The last one got a laugh out of me when I saw it πŸ™‚ I still like using my paper based planner to sketch out ideas for the blog.

    1. Oh, my gosh, Jenny; I love some of the search terms I see on my list – ha! πŸ˜‰ I wrote a post one time about running shirtless and that seems to be a popular search item. I also get lots of searches for book titles, book reviews, etc., which is kind of fun. Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Nothing beats a weekend at home after traveling multiple weekends! Have a great weekend! πŸ™‚

The google searches aren’t too crazy for my page. Golden Birthday is probably the funniest. Most of the searches are jaw surgery or PiYo related it seems.

    1. I always find it interesting to see how people get to my blog. The top search terms seems to be “runner leana.” Race reports always seem to generate quite a bit of traffic too!

      Have a happy Easter!

If I am using my phone (and not Bloglovin) I’ll usually search Runner + Name πŸ™‚ Hope you had a good weekend!

Your welcome! I found my search terms through Google Analytics (I have it installed here and on my old tumblr blog) – there is a section where you can see Organic Keywords.

    1. Love it! It’s so funny how people come across different pages. I love that the Duggars are able to help drive traffic for you πŸ™‚ Have a great weekend in DC πŸ™‚

      1. Run Jenny Run

Memorable searches for sure! Hope you had a good weekend Jenny!

It makes me laugh πŸ™‚ Hopefully see you this Friday! Now that we know the layout, can pick a place to meet up.

I use Bloglovin as well. Honestly, since Google Reader went away, that is the only reader I know of.

      1. Run Jenny Run

I’ve had some issues with Bloglovin as well – even if I read a post, sometimes it still marks it as unread. Ah neat, I had no idea you could follow other blogs via Blogger.

Wow! I know I haven’t been good with tagging my pictures (so likely not in Google Image results). Hope you had a great weekend!

    1. Haha, it’s so strange how people get to our blogs! I haven’t had any good ones for a while, but there was one a while back (can’t remember exactly what it was), but I was like how the heck did that link to me?! Have a great weekend, Jennifer!

Haha I know, they are pretty funny. I like hearing what other bloggers see for their sites.

    1. I love hearing about what searches bring people to blogs. I look over my searches a lot because if I am getting traffic for something that doesn’t make sense I like to go back and make changes so that i stop getting visitors from it. Like, one time I used a picture called bam.jpg and I got a bunch of traffic from being searching bam that obviously aren’t interested in running so I went back and removed that picture from my post!

Someone searched ‘wunning blog’ once which made me laugh out loud. I like wunning πŸ˜‰

I like wunning (and reading about other bloggers searches) I haven’t been too good about labeling my pictures (there were no options to for Tumblr, do it did not become a habit). I’ll need to start practicing that.

Definitely made me giggle! Hope you had a good weekend!
