Friday Five-Favorite Travel Photos of 2013

December 27, 2013

December 27, 2013

My first (and last) Friday Five…in 2013 that is!  I really enjoy the weeks leading up to the New Year-it is a time spent on reflection, goal setting and of course family time.  When I first shared my blog with my cousin (and avid reader!), she liked that I incorporated my travels into my posts (you mean running isn’t 24/7? 🙂 ) Here are my favorite five travel photos from 2013:

1. Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, Louisiana

This past March I went to New Orleans for my friend’s bachelorette party.  There was a small night market on Frenchmen Street (think food and tons of live music) where I snapped the below picture.  The beignets were really good too! image

2. Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington

This past July, work brought me to Auburn, Washington.  I took some vacation time and arrived early to visit some friends and do some sightseeing in Seattle.  Of course I had to make a stop at the famous Pike Place Market (touristy I know) but so many delicious goodies!

3. Luquillo Beach, Luquillo, Puerto Rico

I had two work trips to San Juan, Puerto Rico this year (I know life is tough!)  Although most of that time was spent inside an office, I was able to go to the beach one of the ten days I was there.  My co-worker recommended Luquillo Beach, which is approximately 45-60 minutes east from San Juan.  The views were beautiful and I had my fair share of monfango.

4. Kitsilano Beach, Vancouver, British Columbia*

Does this photo look familiar? As you may recall (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3), this past August I traveled to Vancouver for the SeaWheeze Half Marathon.  Part of the weekend’s events included sunset yoga on “Kits” Beach.  It was stunning!

5. Ironhorse Vineyards, Healdsburg, California*

In October I traveled to Sonoma for my friend’s wedding (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3).  While I was there, I was able to tour a few wineries, eat some amazing food, run the Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon, and visit some friends in San Francisco.  This view from Ironhorse Vineyards is one of my favorites (their sparkling wine is quite tasty too).
