Chicago Marathon Training Week 19 – 10/5-10/11

October 14, 2015

Well…I think you all know where I was this past weekend! My quad was still iffy after a week off from running, so I decided to keep it easy.  Last week involved a lot of stretching and foam rolling.

Monday 10/5– Rest day

Tuesday 10/6– 2 mile walk

Wednesday 10/7 – 2 mile walk

Thursday 10/8 – 2 mile walk

Friday 10/9– 4 mile walk

Saturday 10/10– 3 mile run/walk

Sunday 10/11 – Chicago Marathon + 1 mile walk

Total: 40.2 miles and change (11 walk | 29.2 run/walk)

I cannot wait to share my recap with you all. Several of my other race recaps are in draft mode (Charles Street 12 Miler, Bird in Hand), but I am going to share Chicago first (don’t want it to be a long cliffhanger…I would not do that to you all).  This weekend my goal is to finish writing my posts and share it next week. I also have loads of posts to catch up on!

I must say Chicago is beautiful! We explored it by train, boat, and foot.  I’ll share more in my recap.

Again, thank you for all your cheers, messages, tweets, and texts before, during and after the marathon!

Congrats to all the 2015 Chicago Marathon participants and those who completed a race last weekend!

How was your weekend?

What race(s) are you training for?

Thanks so much! Can’t wait to read both NYC and MCM (I’m playing catch up). I should have the recaps up soon 🙂

    1. Yay for Chicago! Sounds like you had a great time and I can’t wait to read the recap. I haven’t been to Chicago since I was a teenager so I really need to get back and explore at some point.

Thanks, Chaitali. It was a beautiful city – I enjoyed it more than I thought I would 🙂

    1. I’m looking forward to your recap! I wished I could have gone. We started to go anyway just to enjoy Chicago, but I decided that would be extra hard (emotionally). Plus it would have been hard to get around on race day! Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to get in again next year.

Haha thanks, Jennifer! ALMOST there! I should have one posted very very soon as long as work goes smoothly today 🙂

    1. Congratulations on completing Chicago!!! 😀 Can’t wait to read your thoughts about the race and about your trip overall. Glad you got to go on the architectural boat tour! That’s one thing I really wanted to do, but didn’t have time. Looking forward to meeting up at the MCM packet pickup! Will text you later to see where you want to eat after the pickup. 🙂

You’ll just have to go back to Chicago one day…maybe for the marathon 😉 Won’t be as HOT when you ran the half (I would hope). Thanks so much!! Can’t believe both are over!

Yes yes yes! Hope you do try for the lottery next year 🙂 Recap is coming very very son!

    1. Jenny, I can’t wait to read all about the race, but these pictures will definitely tide me over; I’m so glad that you had fun and I can’t wait to see what you have up next! I’ll be running a half marathon on November 7 and then a full on December 19.

Thank you, Lacey! Hope you get to explore Chicago one day – I loved the city more than I expected it to.

Hehe thanks. This year it will be 2 recaps vs 3…ya’ll waited long enough.

Thanks, Janelle! Will have it posted soon 🙂 I bet Philly is getting excited for their marathon coming up! I know a few people running it. Do you usually spectate?

I wish we were able to meet! Haha I know what you mean about wanting a spring marathon – I had signed up for one, but in the end decided not to run it to avoid burn out (although I think I would have a better winter training cycle).
