Charleston Half Training – 12/29-1/4 – Week 9

January 5, 2015

Hello Monday! It seems like its been the New Year for awhile now but its only been 5 days!  I can’t believe Charleston is in a few weeks.

Monday 12/29 –3.5 miles walking + 60 minutes personal training

Tuesday 12/30 – 60 minutes barre + 3 miles walking

Wednesday 12/31  Rest day

Thursday 1/1 – 1/2 mile walk + Predictions and Resolutions 5K + 1/2 mile walk

Friday 1/2 – Rest day

Saturday 1/3 5.25 miles +  60 minutes personal training (still sore)

Sunday 1/4 – Rest day

Total: 15.85 miles

This week was much better workout wise compared to the previous week.  I had an increase in mileage, approximately 12 miles (split walking and running). After 1-1.5 weeks off from running/elliptical to rest my foot, I was able to run up an incline this past Saturday without any pain.  Another fitness highlight of the week was participating in the Predictions and Resolutions 5K on New Year’s Day (recap coming tomorrow).

On Tuesday evening, Cliff and I visited the National Zoo for their annual Zoolights display. Zoolights is must more impressive now compared to four years ago when I last visited the display.

I was surprised at the number of people who were there even though Christmas was over – I guess a good vacation activity.

After the Zoo we walked towards the Woodley Park area for some dinner at Tono Sushi – very good.

Of course another highlight of the week was ringing in the New Year! We celebrated at a local hotel – which included seeing Third Eye Blind (yes blast from the past).

Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for her Weekend Update

How was your New Year? Did you participate in a run?

DC/MD/VA readers – any sushi recommendations?
