Chicago Marathon Training Week 7 – 7/13-7/19

Well last week was a bit of a bust.  It started off with two good (tough) strength training sessions (Tuesday = arms and Wednesday = legs).  I've had back to back sessions before, but never have I ever been that sore to miss my runs through the weekend (usually my strength days are Tuesday/Thursday and I am recovered by Saturday/Sunday for my long runs).  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update. Monday 7/13–…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 6 – 7/6-7/12

About a week and a half ago Kristina kindly reminded me that Chicago was 100 days away!  Now we are down to the 90 day mark - crazy!  My training plan is ~18 weeks long - so I am about 1/3 done with training.  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update. Monday 7/6– 2 mile walk + 30 minutes cycling Tuesday 7/7 – 2 mile walk + 60 minutes personal training + 1 mile elliptical  Wednesday…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 5 – 6/29-7/5

Hope everyone had a nice long weekend! Even though it is the same number of days, Saturday-Monday always seems longer than Friday-Sunday! Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update (One day later than usual...will get back to my usual blogging pattern soon! I have so many posts in draft mode to share).  Monday 6/29– 2 mile walk  Tuesday 6/30 – 2 mile walk + 60 minutes personal training + 1 mile elliptical  Wednesday 7/1 – 2 mile walk…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 4 – 6/22-6/28

Last week = rain + thunder + lightning.  The upside to all this rain....it cooled DC a bit! On Sunday we were greeted with some amazing weather for the Baltimore Women's Classic 5K - wasn't the Baltimore skyline gorgeous?!?  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update. Monday 6/22– 2 mile walk  Tuesday 6/23 – 2 mile walk  Wednesday 6/24 – 2 mile walk + 3 mile run @11:42 min/mile Thursday 6/25 – 2 mile walk + 15 minutes…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 3 – 6/15-6/21

Last week was another scorcher...when/will I ever acclimate to the heat? Maybe not... it will always feel uncomfortable to me.  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update. Monday 6/15– 2 mile walk + 60 minutes personal training Tuesday 6/16 – 2 mile walk + 45 minutes cycling  Wednesday 6/17 – 2 mile walk + 3 mile run @12:13 min/mile  Thursday 6/18 – 2 mile walk  Friday 6/19 – 2 mile walk + 2 mile warm up/cooldown + 3 mile run @ 11:37 min/mile Saturday 6/20 – 60 minutes…

Chicago Marathon Training Week 1 – 6/1-6/7

One week down and many weeks to go.  The highlight of last week included swimming (yay) and the lowlight was missing some runs (boo).  I am not to worried about it, I'll be able to make it up this week.  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update.   Monday 6/1– 2 mile walk + 35 minutes swimming Tuesday 6/2 – 2 mile walk + 60 minutes personal training  Wednesday 6/3 – 2 mile walk +…

Need Your Help Picking a Race!

June 1st is approaching...which means race price increases (here is an old post on Race Registration Savings Tips)! As you all know I am tweaking my Chicago Marathon training plan this weekend.  Like last year, I plan on incorporating some races as part of my long runs this summer/fall (at marathon pace).  This is where I need your help...I am torn between two races for my 20 miler weekend (not too concerned about swag): Race Option #1 - Navy Air…
