Running the USA + DC

Yesterday I had dinner with my friends Nathasha (check out her blog Running the States) and Emily.  You probably remember them from my Charleston and Philadelphia Love Run recaps (Rehoboth coming soon).  It it always super fun catching up with them - life, work, travel, and of course running! We have some 2017 plans sketched out that I am very excited about, one that hopefully includes a west coast visit. Okay, Jennifer...so how is this related to this post?  PS - Thanks…

Year Ahead – 2016 Goals

Better late than never, I wanted to share my 2016 goals.  If you have been following my blog for the past couple of years (2014, 2015), I always had a long list of goals.  I realized some of the goals were more "bucket list" or "to do list" items, such as learning to knit and calligraphy...hmmm maybe another post. This year I wanted to take a more simplified approach to goal setting and narrowed it down to three categories: running, nutrition…

Year in Review – 2015 Goals

Hello 2016, I am excited to see you! Hope everyone had a nice New Years celebration - we stayed in and rang in the new year at my apartment.  As I mentioned in my Year in Review - 2015 Running by the Numbers post, this past year has been so-so and I am ready for a fresh start (funny how a day difference 12/31 to 1/1 can change perspective).  Before I share my 2016 goals, I wanted to recap my…

Year in Review – 2015 Running by the Numbers

Happy New Years Eve! If you have been following my Running by the Numbers posts the past couple of years (2013, 2014) I usually include Excel charts of all things numbers from the past year (races, distances, times).  This year I thought it would be fun to make an infographic and link up with Courtney - Eat Pray Run DC for the Year of Running 2015.  Enjoy! Compared to 2014, I would say 2015 was an average year - it…

Monthly Goals – July 2015

Wowsa! Can't believe the year is halfway over.  There are several 2015 goals I still hope to accomplish (mid-year review coming soon as well).  Today I am going to recap my June goals and share my July goals.  1. Run/Walk/Elliptical 90 miles I squeaked it in and ran/walked 90.6 miles.  Note: Not all my Fitbit steps count towards my mileage goal. 2. Hit 10,000 steps/day I ended the month with 433,312 steps (about 7,000 more than May) and hit 10,000 steps/day for 28…

Monthly Goals – June 2015

Last month turned out better than expected! Today I am going to recap my May goals and share my June goals.  1. Run/Walk/Elliptical 80 miles I finally did it...I ran/walked 86.7 miles (no elliptical).  Having the Fitbit definitely helped in this area.  I know my mileage was higher in the beginning of the month vs. the end of the month....next month should be more consistent.  2. Hit 10,000 steps/day I ended the month with 424,726 steps and hit 10,000 steps/day for 27 of…

Monthly Goals – May 2015

The year is going by so quickly! In terms of goals, April was a so-so month.  If I had to give it a grade, it would likely be a B minus. Today I am going to recap my April goals and share my May goals. 1. Run/Walk/Elliptical 80 miles In March I had a goal of 75 miles and ended the month with 79.57 miles.  Based on that number I increased my April goal to 80 miles.  I ended the month…

Monthly Goals – April 2015

March was a great month! While I did not meet all my goals, I am feeling much better and fitter compared to February. Today I am going to recap my March goals and share my April goals.  1. Run/Walk/Elliptical 75 miles I ended the month with 79.57 miles (I know...I know....I should have run .43 more miles for the pretty 80).  It was the first time I met my mileage goal since I started sharing my monthly goals in December.  2. Strength Train…

30 before 30 List….Wait I Just Turned 32!

Yesterday I celebrated my 32nd birthday with a nice quiet dinner with Cliff.  Of course a food pic for you:  I can't believe its already been two years since I entered my 30s (and I love it so far)!  On each birthday since turning the big 3-0 I return to my "30 before 30" list; which I created shortly after turning 29.  Obviously I did not check everything off the list before I turned 30, but eventually I'll get through them.  I thought it…

Monthly Goals – March 2015

February did not turn out as expected.  I was extremely happy to kick off the month injury free - the foot pain I experienced in December and January was finally gone! I was really excited to increase my mileage again, and thought my goals were challenging yet attainable.  Transitioning to a new/old project took more time than expected, and unfortunately the work/life balance took a hit (especially in the fitness department). Today I am going to recap my February goals…
