Weekly Workout/Training in Review 5/1-5/7

May 8, 2017

Hello Monday! It was much cooler here in DC, so it made running more enjoyable this weekend πŸ™‚ Before I start with my recap, congrats to Caitlin on finishing her first sprint triathlon at Monticelloman!

Monday 5/1 – Rest Day

Tuesday 5/2 – Rest Day

Still SUPER sore from the North Face Endurance Relay, took another rest day.

Wednesday 5/3 – 2 miles | 13:42 min/mile

It was a beautiful day for a run! I met a few co-workers after work for run club in Alexandria.  I ran 2 miles while the rest of the group ran 4 miles.  Overall my foot felt find and only went numb at the end.  Time to throw out the shoes anyways.

Thursday 5/4 – Rest Day

Happy Quatro de Mayo πŸ™‚ Met up with some of my friends at Tacqueria del Barrio in the Petworth neighborhood.  The tacos and chips were tasty, but I still prefer Tacqueria Habanero and Mezcalero Cocina Mexicana on 14th Street.  It was nice to get in an early (calm) celebration before Cinqo de Mayo.

Friday 5/5 – Rest Day

Saturday 5/6 – barre3 | 60 minutes

Had an awesome workout at Lindsey’s barre3 class. Tons of squat variations (sumo squats) and I was a sweaty mess.

Made some yummy egg/ham cup thingys. I will post a recipe this week.

Sunday 5/7 – 5.5 miles | 14:31 min/mile

Ran the Frederick Half Marathon Team Relay with my friend Emily (recap to come). I ran/walk the second half of the relay, which was about 5.5 miles. This was our second year running it and we had a 4 minute team PR πŸ™‚ I wore new shoes, but my foot was numb from miles 2-4.  I’m still puzzled. I will try a new lacing technique this week.  If that does not work, I will follow up with a doctor.

Afterwards we met up with Kathleen at Family Meal for some brunch/lunch. If you are Top Chef fans, this is one of Bryan Voltaggio’s restaurants. The food was great and it was fun catching up. Kathleen just completed State #33 of her 50 State + DC challenge.

I am linking up with Courtney for the Weekly Training Recap and Holly and Tricia for the Weekly Wrap.

How was your week?

    1. That’s some great graffiti. Looks a pretty cool week Jennifer. I got myself in the gym five times last week so I’m hoping for more of the same this week. Fingers crossed nothing gets in the way, haha. Enjoy your week.

Way to go! I hope to get back into that routine soon πŸ™‚ Some of the graffiti art in the city are very cool looking!

I know πŸ™ I told Kathleen it was crazy we’ve been trying to catch up for months and I see her before you! Glad we’ll be able to see each other in a few weeks.

    1. I’ve never gone out on Cinco de Mayo, but we always have Mexican food and margaritas at home. This year I made fajitas and Mexican martinis.

Congrats on your two races! I hope you figure out your foot numbing problem.

Thanks, Janelle! We noticed the restaurant was eager to clean up after us (and it was before 9:00PM). They were definitely getting ready ahead of Friday’s festivities.

    1. I like your Quatro de Mayo reference πŸ˜‰ It’s my father’s birthday, so we had dinner out with him and my madre. Our son graduated on Cinco de Mayo…so we had another festive dinner celebration that evening as well. Congrats on your team’s relay PR!!

    1. Looks like you had an awesome week! Congrats on the relay team PR! I’m just getting back into running after a month break. Looking forward to some races next month!

    1. Congrats on an awesome week of training. I love the street art that you saw on Thursday! Congrats on your team PR from this weekend!
I love that ham/egg recipe – it looks so good. I might have to try making that this weekend!

It was really good! So glad my friend recommended it to me. Wish there was a location closer to DC/VA.

    1. The egg and ham cup ‘thingys’ look great, hahahaha! Sounds like a lovely week Jennifer.

Haha thanks! When I wrote it, I thought…what are these called? Muffins? Cups? πŸ™‚ Hope you have a good week!

Thank you! Hope you enjoy them, probably a fun recipe the kidddos could help out with.

It does hurt so good! I hadn’t been that sore in a LONG time.

Thanks my friend! Hope you get to try a relay one day. When we finished, my teammate and I were happy we didn’t have to run the whole 13.1 πŸ˜‰

That is a good idea. I can’t believe I didn’t ask them when Cliff went the other day. I did loosen my laces this weekend and didn’t experience any numbness. Great call!

The whole foot went numb. Very strange. I switched shoes and loosened my laces this weekend and seemed to do the trick.

    1. Wendy and I celebrated Quatro De Mayo as well. Cindo De Mayo was not the best idea the night before a race. I hope you get the foot numbness figured out. I know it must be frustrating. Congrats on the relay team PR of 4 minutes. It is so much fun to share race experiences with friends. Thanks for linking, Jennifer!

Thank you, Holly! Loved the pics from your race weekend. Good call on celebrating May 4 πŸ™‚

    1. I’m sorry to hear your foot is still going numb. Definitely get that checked out. Family Meal sounds so yummy! I am so bummed I missed you during the race but glad you had fun πŸ™‚

Thanks pal! I loosed my laces and seemed no numbness this weekend! Yay.

    1. Congrats on a great race and a team PR! So weird that you are still having foot numbness issues…I’ve only ever experienced that from my laces being too tight. I hope you’re able to get it figured out soon!
