March 31, 2014
This past weekend I ran the inaugural Philadelphia LOVE Run Half Marathon (race recap up tomorrow).
I kept my workouts fairly light the week leading up to the half (partially planned + partially feeling a bit lazy) – with runs no longer than 3 miles.
Sunday 3/23 – Rest day / Visited friends and their new babies!
Monday 3/24 – 3 mile run outside
Tuesday 3/25 – Rest day
Wednesday 3/26 – Rest day
Thursday 3/27 – 3 mile run / 60 minute training session
Friday 3/28 – Rest day
Saturday 3/29 – Rest day / Philly for the LOVE Run / Touristy stuff
I had two highs from last week: Visiting my friends and meeting their new babies (holding babies count as an arm workout, right?) and my 3 mile run outside. It was one of those Mondays in which it was chilly and all I wanted to do was lie in bed after work. After chatting with one of my friends, I was convinced to go out and run, and I am glad I did.
I ran from my apartment to the Dupont Circle area and back. I took a new route towards 23rd/S NW and came across some cool sights! Places that I never knew existed. They included: Mitchell Park, Spanish Steps, the Wilson Museum, embassies, and pretty DC architecture. I even added hills (willingly) to my run!
I will definitely take this route again and add in Mass Ave if I need more mileage (plus the embassies are stunning). Lows included: general laziness, maybe it was my body telling me to rest.
How was your week?
Do you have a support system to motivate/encourage you when you are not up to working out?
