I LOVE smoothies! I typically have it for breakfast or as a post workout drink. They are easy to make and delicious. Depending on your ingredients, they can be healthy as well. With spring and summer approaching there will be even more fruits to choose from: strawberries, peaches, mangos….the list goes on.
Here is my recipe for a yummy blueberry banana smoothie:
Ingredients (makes 1.5-2 cups)
- 1 ripe banana
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1 cup of Almond Milk (regular milk or Soy works as well)
- Optional: 1 cup Greek Yogurt or Protein
Start off with my blueberries and bananas. I tend to accumulate ripe bananas fairly quickly. Before I throw them in the freezer for future smoothies/banana bread I peel, slice, and put them into baggies. That way I do not have to wait for the banana to defrost in order to peel.
I use Vanilla Almond Milk (30 calories) and Vanilla Greek Yogurt.
Throw the ingredients in a blender, or in my case I use an immersion blender – and voila, a beautiful purple blueberry banana smoothie.
Of course I used a running related tumbler 🙂 I just noticed the “A” in Ragnar is no longer there… oops!
