This week actually went by quickly – love when that happens! Did you know today is National Donut (or Doughnut) Day? USA Today had a fun article featuring stats. Today I am linking up with Mar, Courtney, and Cynthia and sharing Five Scenes from National Running Day.
1. Constitution Gardens
First stop! You may remember the name when I ran here this past spring. I miss the Cherry Blossoms!
2. Vietnam Memorial
Beautiful and tons of school groups visiting.
3. Washington Monument
It was such a cool day and my legs felt fantastic. There were so many ducklings in the reflecting pool.
4. Lincoln Memorial Selfie
Made a loop back around the reflecting pool towards the Lincoln Memorial. It wasn’t too crowded here, which was nice.
5. Lincoln Memorial Bridge Steps
After 3 miles I went up and down these steps (12 down and 12 up for a quarter mile) before running a mile back to my starting point.
Where did you run on National Running Day?
What is your favorite donut?
Coco
June 5, 2015Sadly, no running for me! Can you believe I grew up here and only noticed Constitution Gardens last year when my plane home from NYC flew in that way? Of course, I’ve run there a few times since. Did you go onto the little island with the signature plaques?

June 8, 2015Hope your toe is feeling better! I only noticed Constitution Gardens last year when Julie posted a photo on Instagram (thank goodness for social media, right). On Wednesday I ended up running the perimeter (last time I went on the little island).
Amy Lauren
June 5, 2015I ran on a track on Wednesday, so it wasn’t nearly as fun or scenic as your run :). All these pics remind me of my visit to DC last year!

June 8, 2015I wish I had a track downtown… I suppose I could use the reflecting pool as a makeshift track. I will need to measure it 🙂

June 5, 2015I love the pictures! It brings back memories of the Marine Corps Marathon in 2013, one of my favorite races! Thank you for sharing them!!

June 8, 2015Your welcome! The Marine Corps Marathon is a great race! Will you be there this year?

June 5, 2015One of the many things that I love about running in DC is seeing all of the wonderful sights! You hit up a lot on your run on Wednesday!

June 8, 2015They never get old 🙂 I should plan an Arlington route one day so I can see Iwo Jima and Arlington Cemetery.
Chaitali
June 5, 2015Such an awesome, scenic run! I sadly didn’t make it outside for National Running Day but I did get some quality time on the elliptical. Oh well, at least I had an episode of the West Wing to keep me company 🙂

June 8, 2015Thanks, Chaitali! Quality time on the elliptical is always good, nice workout to get the running action with less pressure on the joints. On random note, I looked into volunteering on Saturday, but have to run errands before driving my sister to the airport. Good luck!
Elizabeth
June 5, 2015OMG that’s a beautiful run! I have to say my typical running routes, are beautiful as well, because, nature. But they’re not nearly as interesting. I wish I lived close enough to DC so I could go running there regularly, As it is I’m just far enough away it’s usually not worth it.

Run Jenny Run
June 8, 2015Thank you, Elizabeth! I feel the same way about people who run along the beach, trails, forest, or water 🙂 (especially the latter). Only pain point to running in DC are the crosswalks and sometimes it does get crowded. Hope you had a great weekend.
Tara @ Running 'N' Reading
June 5, 2015Jenny, it’s been so flooded here that we are running out of good running spaces – ha! I ran along the dry part of our river trail after work and I was so excited to enjoy some sunshine! I’m so glad you were able to get out and enjoy it, too. Have a great weekend!

June 8, 2015Soooo nuts the water is hanging around. Do they have a timeline of when they expect it to recede? Hope you had a great weekend 🙂

June 8, 2015Jenny, it’s finally starting to improve, in most areas; now, the cleanup begins – ugh! There are some pretty nasty areas, as I’m sure you can imagine! 😉

June 5, 2015Great pics and spin on the theme, Jenny! I ran in my neighborhood on NRD–not very exciting, but I was excited just to be able to run. I ran by my high school, which is where they filmed “10 Things I Hate about You,” which was kind of fun.
I love donuts! My favorite is the French cruller.

June 8, 2015Sooo fun they filmed 10 Things I Hate About You at your high school? Were you or your friends extras on the set? Yes, French crullers are good! Anything with a vanilla glaze is okay in my book.

June 5, 2015Awesome scenes from your run on national running day! Reminds me of the DC tour I ran when we visited. Love donuts, my fav is pretty simple, I’m good with a chocolate frosted donut!!

June 5, 2015You have great sightseeing in the city you run In, I’m sure it makes the run fly by..My town is so boring, nothing exciting. I try to take advantage of my runs when I am traveling for work.
