30 before 30 List….Wait I Just Turned 32!

March 19, 2015

Yesterday I celebrated my 32nd birthday with a nice quiet dinner with Cliff.  Of course a food pic for you:

I can’t believe its already been two years since I entered my 30s (and I love it so far)!  On each birthday since turning the big 3-0 I return to my “30 before 30” list; which I created shortly after turning 29.  Obviously I did not check everything off the list before I turned 30, but eventually I’ll get through them.  I thought it would be a fun to share the list with you all:

  1. Bake a pie from scratch ✔ (29)
  2. Travel to 30 countries by 30 ✔ (29)
  3. Learn to dougie ✔ (29)

  5. Volunteer ✔ (30)

  7. Purchase/maintain my own website ✔ (31)
  8. Bake brownies from scratch
  9. Roast a turkey
  10. Visit 6 major continents (5/6 completed, missing Africa or Antarctica)
  11. Complete a 70.3 triathlon (half ironman distance)
  12. Ride 50-100 miles on a bike
  13. Relearn to knit/crochet
  14. Relearn how to use a sewing machine
  15. Learn basic Spanish
  16. Attend a Caps hockey game
  17. Attend a professional soccer game (non MLS)
  18. Attend a grand slam tennis match
  19. Learn to play golf
  20. Watch all Godfather movies
  21. Read the Hobbit/LOTR trilogy
  22. Try paddle boarding
  23. Snowboard on an intermediate hill
  24. Build a database
  25. Watch the AFI Top 10 movies

  27. Learn to drive stick shift
  28. Attend a Bikram Yoga class (Hot yoga yes, but not Bikram)
  29. Learn Adobe Photoshop
  30. Go on a safari

It is a pretty good mix of travel, fitness, food, and randomness.  Will be interested to see which items get checked off in 365 days 🙂

Do you have a 30 by 30 list or anything similar? How are you doing?

Anything on my list on your list too?

    1. Happiest birthday to you, Jen! LOVE your list. And I love that you return to it each year. I created a similar list on my 25th birthday of things I wanted to do by my 30th. And a new list on my 30th of things to do before turning 35 (I need to find that list… haha). I want to visit all seven continents, too. And go on a safari! I also want to bike more (need a bike first! hah). Cheers to a new year and crossing things off of your 30 list!! 🙂

Thanks Nathasha, so fun to have reconnected this year! Maybe an international race in the future 🙂

    1. Great list! Impressive that you went to 30 countries by 30. I’ve never counted but maybe I should 🙂 I have a list on My 50 which is 50 goals and you can set the deadlines however you want for each goal. I’ve checked off some of the major things like find a new job I like, buy a house, and start saving for retirement but I have a lot of fun things left on the list!

I am a travel nut, I should share more of the old ones on the blog 🙂 I love when you have your trip recaps. I like those items on the list, I have some professional goals I would like to accomplish this year.

    1. happy birthday! i have made no progress on my 30 before 30 list (well, besides throwing my name in the marathon lottery, which gets me closer to running a marathon haha), but i’m not too worried. i totally have learn to drive stick shift on mine, too 🙂

Thank you Tara! I am embarrassed to say I am wayyyy behind on some of the movie classics (and currents). Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Happiest of birthday wishes to you! I have a “bucket list” of sorts of things to complete in my 30s — although as I’ve got older, I realized there are many things I’d rather scratch off the list than do. haha 🙂

Haha funny, I was eyeing the the brownie item after yesterday’s post 🙂 Nice that you and your husband have been able to visit all the continents. I would love to visit Patagonia one day, so Antarctica could be an option.

Do you have a favorite brownie recipe Coco? I think I will borrow some knitting needles from my mom next time I see her.

    1. Happy 32nd birthday, Jen! Great list, I should make one too. I think you can definitely knock off going to Africa and a safari, I’m sure your mom would love to join you 🙂 I want to learn Photoshop too, let me know if you find a good class!

Thanks Steph! Ha I think mom would love that – I don’t think dad would go on a safari. I’ll start checking out Photoshop classes will let you know.

    1. Happy happy birthday to you Jenny!! The 30s are great aren’t they?! You look so youthful I thought you were still in your 20s!
I wish I had a running bucket list like this. There are many things is like to do but I’ve never written them down. I can’t believe you’ve been to 30 countries?! That’s awesome. And the Godfather movies are my ABSOLUTE fave! So yes definitely watch them! Although I don’t really care for Part 3. The first one is my fave movie of all time though. Enjoy 🙂

    1. Happy Birthday, Jenn! It looks like you’ve completed a good amount of things on your list. I can’t believe you’ve visited 30 countries!! That’s so great. I created a similar list around the time I turned 25, but I can’t find it, haha. Perhaps I’ll try again when I get closer to 30.

Oh, and relearning to crochet…I recommend watching YouTube videos. That’s how I learned!

Been very lucky.. slowing down on the travel front a bit (less vacation time than my first job right out of college hehe).

    1. Learn to dougie!!!! LOL

Happy belated birthday! I’m sorry I missed it on the actual day!

I want to try stand up paddle boarding, but I’m too nervous to go alone. In Jan. when you come down, we should sign up! The water might be a little cold … or not. Who knows that January in Miami will be like!
