Weekly Workout/Training in Review 5/18-5/24

May 26, 2015

Hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day Weekend! Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for the Weekend Update (a day late πŸ˜‰ )

Monday 5/18– 2 mile walk

Tuesday 5/19 – 2 mile walk

Wednesday 5/20 – 2 mile walk + 60 minutes yoga

Thursday 5/21 – 2 mile walk

Friday 5/22 – 2 mile walk

Saturday 5/23 – 60 minutes yoga + 60 minutes of yoga (yes twice)

Sunday 5/24 – Rest day

Total: 10 miles walking

Noticed my generic post header “Weekly Workout/Training in Review 5/18-5/24”?  Chicago Marathon training does not begin until next week so I decided to take two weeks “off”.   Last week I decided not to run so I could give my legs some rest.  I ended the week with 10 miles walking (Fitbit low), but I was completely fine with that.  My legs feel refreshed and my calves are no longer tight.  I also took three yoga classes – which was needed! Feels so good to stretch – especially pigeon pose! On Sunday I took two (I know I am silly) yoga classes. I started off with a 60 minute hot yoga session at CPY and headed over to Athleta Georgetown for a Sweat Pink shopping/yoga event (Jenn @ Running on Lentils – you would have loved this).

Mar organized this fun session for the DC/MD/VA SPAs! There was a private shopping event for the first hour (and yes… I treated myself….yay discounts).

Then Cathy Trenary from Yoga Del Sol led us through a 60 minute yoga session.  It was fun to shop + sweat + catchup/meet Courtenay @ Running w/Perseverance, Erica @ MCM Mama, Alexis @ Flecks of Lex, Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner, Mar @ Mar on the Run, Kathryn @ From Dancing to Running, Cynthia @ You Signed Up For What?! (including Cynthia’s daughter), and Colleen @ Live Free and Run

The remainder of the weekend was spent cleaning, laundry, catching up on blogs, binge watching the Good Wife (finished season six), and general laziness….twas so nice! Cliff and I also watched Taken 3 and Maze Runner….they were both pretty good. Surprisingly, I did not take too many pictures from the weekend (no food pics… WHAT?!) I promise they will return next week + some more running πŸ™‚

How was your weekend?

Have you shopped at Athleta before?

Hope the clothes are working out nicely. Hope to see you soon!

    1. They just opened an Athleta store in Mt. Pleasant. I’m excited to try it out and maybe do a yoga class there and see how the clothes are. It looks like you guys had a lot of fun.

I don’t blame you to take a few days off before Chicago training begins. Training for a marathon is no joke and you probably just needed the rest. Plus you still got yoga and walks in.

Hope you like it! Most of the Athleta stores in this area usually host a free yoga class once a week.

    1. I love pigeon pose. I’m in the middle of my final push to IM 70.3 Mont Tremblant then I will earn 2 weeks of mid-season recovery…looking forward to that. Athleta event looks like fun. I haven’t binge watched in a while…more of a winter thing for me when I’m riding almost exclusively on the trainer. I haven’t watched the Good Wife, though. Will have to check it out.

Good Wife is a good one if you like the law/courtroom dramas πŸ™‚ Pigeon pose is one of my favorites too. 2 weeks post 70.3 is well deserved! Can’t wait for your race.

I know! Now I got rid of stuff…need to organize it all!

    1. I had no idea an Athleta store opened in Georgetown. I might have to check it out after Lawyer’s Have Heart. Their stuff looks so cute online. It sounds like a smart idea to do a lot of yoga and walking before beginning formal training πŸ™‚

Yes, you should definitely check it out! It is on M Street on the same side as Benetton πŸ™‚ They also have free yoga Wednesdays I think.

It was a fun event. Yoga can get pricey, but it so nice to see so many community events around here where people can go free. Like when its made available for everyone.

Thanks Lisa. Hope you like it, it terms of sizing I think they are similar to Gap or Old Navy Activewear.

And Marine Corps soon after! Did you read what the color of the shirts may be? Ruby (for the 40th). I read it on one of the MCM FB groups.

    1. I’m so glad y’all were able to get together like this, Jenny; what a fun treat! And I’m also glad to hear you’re taking a little “break” (sort of) before you hop back into marathon training…but it’s going to be SO EXCITING!!! Thanks so much for linking up with the blog; hope your week is off to a great start!

I love going to that Athleta after some of the PRR races πŸ™‚ Hope to see you soon, Deb!

    1. Looks like a great week, and smart idea to do take off a little time before training amps up. I bet that helps with burnout!

I love Athleta’s stuff (especially their Fast Track and Relay lines) so I’m curious to hear what you got!
