St. Michael’s Half Training 3/23-3/29 – Week 1

March 30, 2015

Hello Monday – back to the grind.  A catch up day for work, blogging (some posts and comments to follow up on), and life.  I had a wonderful time in Philly and look forward to sharing snippets of the weekend with you.  Today I am linking up with Tara at Running n’ Reading for her Weekend Update.

Monday 3/23 – Rest day

Tuesday 3/24 – Rest/sick day

Wednesday 3/25 – Rest/sick day

Thursday 3/26 – Rest/sick day

Friday 3/27 – 1 mile walk

Saturday 3/28 – 1.5 mile walk

Sunday 3/29 – 1 mile + Love Run Philadelphia Half Marathon + 1 mile

Total: 17.6 miles

Following Shamrock Weekend (my race recaps and linkup here and here) I came down with a cold.  After a few days of rest + medicine I was all ready for half marathon #21 this past Sunday (St. Michaels Half training kicked off this week).  Prior to our mini road trip, I made an oatmeal pancake topped with Truwhip and strawberries.

On Friday we went to Citizens Bank field for packet pickup (picture above) and explored the city for a little bit.  The next day Cliff and I went to Reading Terminal Market for some breakfast and Beiler’s donuts – so good!

Visited the location of Tun Tavern – where the Marine Corps was founded (the tavern no longer exists, but there is a marker of where it once stood).  There was a nice view of (I believe) the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

Later in they day we met some friends and headed to Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, a colorful mosaic gallery.

The weekend ended with a nice PR! I’ll be sharing my race recap this week.

How was your weekend?

Have you ever visited Philly?

I had no idea Philly had Hot Chocolate, that should be fun. I look forward to reading about it 🙂

Thanks Mary Beth. Luckily the cold came earlier in the week and was practically gone by the time I ran. Have a good week!

Thanks Steph! I just saw WP put your comments into my Spam! I am going to email to ask how I could add yours as non spam. Sorry for the confusion 🙁

Thanks! The consistency is different, but I like the taste – hope you like them.

    1. Goodness girl, you are unstoppable! A PR the week after a half and being sick! Good for you. I live in Bucks County, PA so I’m very close to Philly. Will have to do this race sometime but wasn’t in the cards this year. I’m slowly building long run mileage back and wasn’t ready for a spring half.

Thanks Kelli! It is a good race to have on a bucket list – I PRd there last year. Overall Philly has some nice flat courses. Good call on building your long run mileage, do not want to risk injury ahead of tri and peak running season.

Luckily it was the beginning of the week, so I was practically good as new by the weekend.

I wish I bought more! Some of the magazines I read recommended Federal Donuts, have you had those? Thanks 🙂
