Last month turned out better than expected! Today I am going to recap my May goals and share my June goals.
1. Run/Walk/Elliptical 80 miles
I finally did it…I ran/walked 86.7 miles (no elliptical). Having the Fitbit definitely helped in this area. I know my mileage was higher in the beginning of the month vs. the end of the month….next month should be more consistent.
2. Hit 10,000 steps/day
I ended the month with 424,726 steps and hit 10,000 steps/day for 27 of the 31 days in the month. My high for the month was 31,808 on 5/16 (St. Michaels Half – recap coming this week) and my low was 3,431 on 5/23 (Memorial Day chillin).
3. Swim 1x/week
Well….I bought new goggles and found my swim cap! I did go to the pool, but I forgot my ID at home. The employees could not accept any of my virtual identification – they were stricter than the TSA (okay I am being a little facetious…but we’ve read those stories in which someone has gotten through TSA using Facebook as an ID).
4. Yoga/Barre 2x/week
I attended 8 yoga classes this month.
5. Log Food Everyday
I logged all my food for the first half of the month and lost 2lbs. The second half of the month…..not so much. Interestingly enough, I did not gain any weight the second half of the month, so an overall net decrease of 2lbs.
1. Run/Walk/Elliptical 90 miles
I ended May on a high note and think I can realistically run/walk/elliptical 90 miles this month. Note: Not all my Fitbit steps count towards my mileage goal.
2. Hit 10,000 steps/day
Crossing my fingers I will see green stars for all 30 days of June. I would also like to beat the 424,726 step total from May.
3. Swim 2x/week
I know this is very ambitious since I did not even swim 1x/week last month, but I have a feeling I can do it + its on my training plan! In fact, I swam yesterday when the rain brought me to the gym.
4. Cycle 2x/week
My training plan calls for cycling twice a week. This is the leg I am most concerned about. I’ll probably do one workout on a stationary bike and one workout on my road bike.
5. Log Food Everyday
I would like to log my food for the entire month, with the goal of losing 4lbs this month. This training cycle I plan on paying more attention to what I consume post run…..cough cough….Jen you can’t eat everything because you ran XX miles.
I still plan on practicing yoga this month, it may not be twice a week, but hopefully once a week. I am also Linking up my goals with Tracey and Alyssa for Training for Tuesday.
How did you do this month?
Do you have any new goals for June?
Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC

June 2, 2015wow! Awesome job on reaching your miles for May.. And exceeding them!! No doubt you can do it again for June. I find logging food either with my fitness pal of just written down in a notebook (how I do it) is so effective in raising awareness in what you’re eating and how often!

June 3, 2015Thanks Caitlin. I am impressed you write it down in a notebook – I ended up using my Fitbit app… just got a little lazy towards the end of the month.

June 2, 2015I’m definitely shooting for the 10,000 steps per day goal too 🙂 The fitbit keeps me from just lying on the couch all evening! I’ve been horrible about logging my food in May and I’m hoping to improve that in June too.

June 3, 2015Good luck to you as well 🙂 We should connect on Fitbit!
Tara @ Running 'N' Reading
June 2, 2015Jenny! You are a ROCK STAR!! You hit 10,000 steps almost the entire month! I never get close like that…you are doing great! You’ll have another great month in June, I just know it!

Karen @ Fit in France
June 2, 2015I have no particular fitness goal for June except to do what I can. Between end of school for my kids, and travel for work, I can not be too picky. Just want to be sure to get in 3 to 4 days a week of fitness. The pool opens now at 7:3à on Wed. mornings, so it is a perfect time to get in a great workout.

June 3, 2015A morning swim sounds delightful! I have one tomorrow morning (although indoors and not a full length pool – one of those pool treadmills).

June 2, 2015Great job! I can’t believe May has come and gone.
I started a June running streak yesterday. So my goal is 30 days!

June 2, 2015Great month!! What do you mean you can’t eat everything just because you ran XX miles?! 🙂
In response to your other comment, I haven’t decided on which half marathon I’m going to do in Sept. yet (if I do one at all). There are two in Georgia that I have my eye on in September … but I’m not sure if I want to travel for a half marathon. I already have a trip planned for August and then of course Chicago in October.
The Chicago Half Marathon caught my eye – it’s Labor Day weekend. I thought it might be nice to get a preview of the city before marathon day … that’s also something I’m considering … but still not sure about because I don’t know if I want to fly that far for the weekend.

June 3, 2015Hehe..I wish! I know the bakery across the street is thinking…where has Jen gone?! Oooh Georgia sounds neat… too bad FL is not next to DC….but if you do find an inexpensive flight….hehe. The Chicago Half sounds like a good idea for the reason you listed- it will be interesting come October since I’ve never been there (pro – plenty to distract and look at while running, con – i like to know where everything is ahha). We booked our flights yesterday (check out Southwest, they were having a sale).

June 2, 2015Great job on your May goals! Even in the warm May weather. 🙂 I don’t have any set goals for June…just trying to get back into running since Cherry Blossom.

June 2, 2015Nice work on your goals! I struggle with logging food, too. I’ll be so good for a few weeks then something like travel will get me out of the routine and then it is so hard to start up again. I need to step on the scale this week…almost afraid to after 7 days of hotel and restaurant eating last week.

June 3, 2015I was nervous stepping onto the scale as well…but it turned out okay. Traveling definitely shakes up the routine – makes it difficult when you are constantly eating out.

June 2, 2015Awesome job with your goals last month.
I have been logging my food, but logging crap and gaining weight. Being better about that is a June goal of mine.

June 2, 2015Wow! You’re steps count is impressive! And I think it’s SO HARD to write a food log but I definitely think it’s a positive way to be more in control of your intake!
